Uncharted 3 Gameplay Videos Chateau

It’s unclear just how much of the game developers plan to show, but from these early signs it seems that fans will be tortured to no end until Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is released next November. The game’s teaser trailer was enough to get fans salivating over the desert adventures developer Naughty Dog had cooked up for Nathan Drake’s third game, and the live demo on Jimmy Fallon only escalated their excitement.

Now two more gameplay videos have been released featuring more of the action leading up to the burning chateau sequence, giving us five more minutes of combat, traversal, and all-around awesomeness.

While the previous looks at gameplay have been all about impressing with graphics, fire simulation, and keeping the adrenaline of the viewers up, these new videos put the spotlight on the traversal elements of the game working in tandem with the combat. Newcomers to the series are sure to be blown away, as the combination of combat with climbing is done so effortlessly, it will have Assassin’s Creed fans punching through their monitors.

Nathan is no slouch when it comes to combat, working with his fists and his pal Sully to take down numerous goons set on burning the chateau to the ground. Take a look at the brand new action in the newly-released videos:

The game looks extremely similar to Uncharted 2 in its action and atmosphere, which is absolutely a good thing. Some fans may have been worried when the game’s announcement trailer showed Drake stranded in the middle of a desert, wondering how much combat and traversal could be found in the midst of a sandy wasteland. Luckily the developers have thought of that, finding ways to insert set-piece moments into the still-mysterious historical plot.

Those who thought that the Lawrence of Arabia-themed quotes and easter eggs in the game’s trailers may lead to a heavier or less exciting game can rest easy, with Drake putting his new takedowns on display with one opponent after another. The video shows Drake taking one enemy out with kicks while being grappled by another, which is hopefully just the first example of expanded combat options. The climbing and scaling of walls still seems to be on par with the previous games, but why fix something if it isn’t broken?

Uncharted 3 Gameplay Videos Traversal

The developers have spoken constantly about just how much thought is going into Uncharted 3, and from the behind-the-scenes video it looks like nobody expects more from their team than they do. If Naughty Dog can deliver on the improved combat and traversal promises made at the game’s announcement, then Uncharted 3 may become an even bigger must-buy than it already is.

What do you think of the videos? Do they raise your expectations even higher, or is this the kind of product you expect from a studio that is quickly distinguishing itself as a powerhouse of the industry? Either way, it’s a safe bet that Uncharted 3 already has a spot reserved for ‘Game of The Year’ at next year’s VGAs.

Fans can look forward to even more videos, details, and tantalizing glimpses of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception leading up to its release on November 1, 2011, exclusively for the Playstation 3.
