While not a surprise, it’s certainly exciting to hear officially that Ubisoft will be releasing a new installment in their famed Prince of Persia series.
It was speculated for quite some time that a tie-in game would company the Disney production for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie, and that Ubisoft would officially announce something on that front soon. Now comes official word that the new game will be called Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and will act as a sequel of sorts, the next installment in the Sands of Time storyline.

MONTREAL, CANADA – November 30, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands™ video game is in development and is scheduled to be released May 2010 for consoles and handhelds. This new instalment in the critically-acclaimed franchise marks the return to the Prince of Persia® Sands of Time storyline. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands™ will feature many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand.

I am really excited to see a new game in the Prince of Persia franchise. I liked the last game released, although not as much as the original Sands of Time. I hope they incorporate the old style of combat with multiple enemies.
I agree, Sean. I think the first Sands of Time which re-launched the franchise is still my favorite and it’ll be nice to see them go back to that.
It kinda got away from them with the last prince of persia which was insanely easy. Hopefully they make it a bit less linear in the paths that you can take while doing the climbing and running. I like the dual swords from the 2nd one too. Oh i hope the bring back the CHOMPERS, from the original prince of persia haha. Overall its a great franchise im expecting greatness!
finally they continue the sand of times trilogy, screw the other 2 sequals.
