Despite coming out and saying that there would be no PC version, High Moon Studios has announced that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will ship on all three major platforms. High Moon's reasoning behind not working on a PC version — they felt they could never do the platform justice — was a reasonable one, but nonetheless fans were disappointed by the news.

Thankfully High Moon has tasked Mercenary Games with porting Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, and even more exciting than that the game will be launching on August 28th right alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. This is the first project of any robust console nature for Mercenary, but the members of the development team, as a whole, appear to be more than qualified.

As reason behind not porting the game to the PC themselves, High Moon revealed that particular area was not one of their strengths. Any good developer wants to ensure that whatever they do gets the time and attention it deserves and is the best possible end product.

Unfortunately, in High Moon's eyes that wasn't possible for the PC version of Fall of Cybertron. Fan demand must have spurned them on, though, and perhaps they or Activision looked to Mercenary to get the job done.

While the PC version of War for Cybertron might have had its shortcomings, there were still a ton of PC gamers out there who clearly enjoyed the experience. High Moon's serious take on the Transformers' early history gave gamers a chance to play as a wide selection of Autobots and Decepticons and was downright fun to play.

Fall of Cybertron, as well, plans to deliver a large collection of Autobots and Decepticons to play as — including members of the Dinobots. This game was a can't miss for any Transformers fan and that's probably why High Moon felt it was imperative that they port their game to the PC.

Are you happy to learn that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be ported to the PC? Any apprehensions about an unproven developer being tasked with the job?

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron releases August 28, 2012 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
