It was only a few short days ago that Nintendo announced Pokemon Black and White's March 6 North American release date much to the delight of fans everywhere. It would appear that Nintendo only wants to fuel the proverbial Pokefire leading up to the release of Pokemon Black and White by giving away special promotional Pokemon through two big retailers. GameStop and Toys R Us are the pair of stores that will be giving away the limited edition downloads, but they will each be giving away different types of Pokemon as downloadable content.
GameStop will be giving away the three legendary dogs Suicune, Entei, and Raikou, but these legendaries are a little bit different from the ones players encountered in Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. These legendary beasts are actually "shiny Pokemon" which means they are a different color and sparkle when released form their Pokeball. Besides adding a little dazzle to your otherwise abysmal team of Pokemon these legendary dogs are the only way to catch the new legendary Pokemon Zoroark in Pokemon Black and White. Once the newly-shined Pokemon are transferred to Black and White they will unlock the ability to catch the otherwise unobtainable pocket monster.
Gamers won't be able to just mosey on into their local GameStop and download any legendary dog whenever they want though. There are select dates that the retailer has set up that each dog will be available. GameStop's three "dog days" are available below:
- Raikou -- January 3rd - January 9th
- Entei -- January 17th - January 23rd
- Suicune -- January 31st - February 6th
That's not all the excitement that Pokemon Masters have to look forward to because Toy R Us is also getting in on the action with their own exclusive downloadable giveaway. Those who visit Toy R Us between January 30th and February 5th will be able to receive none other than Ash's Pikachu. That's right, the Ash Ketchum's electric rodent of anime fame can be obtained only through Toy R Us.
Players will be able to download Ash's Pikachu with the Pokemon games Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver. Those who don't own Soul Silver or Heart Gold will NOT be able to download GameStop's Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.
Both of these event are sure to help get the hype train rolling just in time for Black and White. Pokemon fans everywhere better get ready to catch 'em all next month when both of these downloadable offers from GameStop and Toys R Us become available.
