Sony Reveals the Top 10 Most Platinum’d Games

Most Platinum'd PS3 Vita Games

Oh, the elusive Platinum trophy, how you taunt gamers. Once a player unlocks every trophy in a particular PS3/Vita game, they will be awarded with this shiny trinket.

But which titles have been “platinum’d” the most? Sony has revealed the top 10.

The team over at the PlayStation Blog compiled the data of the top 10 titles, with Assassin’s Creed 2 being the number one. Other notable games on the list include the first two Uncharted games, InFAMOUS and Modern Warfare 2.

It’s assumed that when compiling this list, Sony also took PS Vita titles into account, after all the device does have trophy support. The games just probably don’t show up because they’re so recent – one can’t expect Uncharted Golden Abyss to beat out Assassin’s Creed 2, a title that’s been out for nearly three years.

Check out the list:

  1. Assassin’s Creed II
  2. Modern Warfare 2
  3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
  4. God of War 3
  5. Resident Evil 5
  6. inFamous
  7. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
  8. God of War (GoW HD Collection)
  9. Borderlands
  10. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (The Sly Collection)

The list should hardly come as a surprise, considering how “easy” these platinums are – and by easy, we mean that they don’t take as much dedication as say, Warhawk. Still with that being the case it’s hard to believe Terminator Salvation isn’t up there, after all the only requirement for 100%  is beating the game on hard mode.

As Sony’s Jeff Rubenstein points out, many of these games have trophy lists that focus solely on single player, such as the Uncharted games which feature few multiplayer trophies. The lack of multiplayer heavy games makes sense, after it’s usually easier to score 100% completion in single player games. It also seems more likely that most gamers would rather play through the God of War 3 challenge levels than grind out a tacked on multiplayer component for hours on end. That said, the inclusion of Modern Warfare 2 makes sense – given how long that game has been out coupled with the sheer amount of people who purchased it.

So what are the top 10 least platinum’d games? We might see that list show up in the near future, but I’d probably have to say WipEout HD is somewhere up there. Damn those Zones trophies!

Ranters, do you have any of these platinums? What other games have you scored 100% in?

I don’t THINK I have on any game lol ever. Except Fight Night but that’s easy.

  • Rob Keyes

Surprised to see AC2 and Borderlands up there because of the time requirements, and I thought RE5 would easily be #1.

  • TheAvenger

I got Platinum on AC2, Infamous 1 and Infamous 2 (all of which were quite easy to achieve)
I’m close to getting platinum on MW2, but I can’t get the damn trophy for completing “Contingency” on Veteran! :( 😉
I haven’t played the other games on this list yet… I’ll be playing Uncharted 2 soon, so hopefully that’ll be another platinum trophy to add to the list.

Anyway, the trophies aren’t the most important aspect of the game. The point is about having fun and finishing. Any or all “trophies” or achievements are of secondary importance to me.

    • Anthony Mole

That’s funny, I though MW2 was easy on Veteran, but it’s those damn Spec Ops trophies that trip me up!

      • TheAvenger

MW2 is easy on Veteran… all the missions are, but on “Contingency” there’s a time limit mission where you have to run across a whole ship yard to get to the next checkpoint: most of the times, the time runs out before I can get to it, but those few times where I do get to it (and the screen says “checkpoint achieved”), I immediately get shot in the head and then when I respawn, it doesn’t respawn at the new checkpoint… it makes me respawn at the start of the time limit mission (then I have to try and do it all over again
I’m guessing it’s a glitch on my system or something… all I know is, I’ve tried that time limit mission about 100 times now, and I still haven’t gotten the trophy.

  • Dovahkiin

I’d imagine one of the least platinumed games to be Mortal Kombat 2011 (9) if you don’t use guides, as there are some near impossible acheivments to… acheive.

  • Ichi_Yamamoto

My only wish is that they’d stop making trophies forcing us to go online for platinum. Why I liked Resident Evil 5 – platinum – using only single player modes. I should have GTA IV and Driver SF, but the online is killing me.

    • TheAvenger

      Completely agree…
Games like AC Brotherhood, Uncharted 3, Little Big Planet. etc. all have trophies where you have to play online to get ’em.
Now the thing that developers seem to overlook is… NOT EVERYONE CAN PLAY ONLINE! (I can, but I have many friends that don’t have a fast, wireless internet connection YET).
Also, with games like Uncharted 3, you have to pay extra for the the “Online Pass” – now, this is a whole issue of it’s own, but sticking to the point: you basically have to pay extra to get all the trophies!

That’s why I love games like MW2, Infamous and AC2… you don’t have to go online to be able to finish the game 100%.

      • Androol

I don’t think they necessarily overlook that fact. It’s just not a big deal. So we offliners can’t get the platinum trophy; that’s not really a big deal. Of course I’d like it if the platinums only required the single player stuff (at least in games where the online is just supplemental)… but ultimately it’s just a trophy. If I was the kind of person who really cared about trophies, I’d probably also be the kind of person who loves playing online and pwning strangers.

      • R4D10K177

Um you dont have to pay extra for the online pass if you buy the game new or the person who you bought the game from didnt use the online code. you buy used have to pay for an online code that seems more then fair and in uncharted the only trophies are play one game of each mp game mode. id say thats pretty easy going. you make it seem like your paying more for something and its misleading to the people who may want this game.

        • R4D10K177

As for the post its self I have
          Uncharted 1
          Uncharted 2
          Not on the list
          Demons Souls
I would have ACII but Im having a hard time getting all the feathers.

  • Spider-Abu

    hell yeh, AC ftw 😛

  • zachary

Medal of honor (reboot), terminator salvation I got platinum

  • Adam

Got AC2, Infamous, Infamous 2, and Borderlands. Would have it for MW2 as well but the intels are just pure evil. As for other games that should be on here, Skyrim. Only hard one about that game is probably the standing stones or restoring the thieves guild (i belive that is impossible), other than that it is really easy. It just one of the games that invloves just playing the game. Fallout 3 and New Vegas could fit in it too. Also may as well put Darksiders there.

Hardest games I have platinumed are Bioshock 1&2, W@W, and Red Dead Redemption.

Speaking of hard games to platinum, has ANYONE managed to platinum Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls?

    • Anthony Mole

I’ve got a guy on my friends list with Demon’s Souls at 100%. I’ve heard Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is the hardest (and rarest) plat.

    • Ichi_Yamamoto

I have to agree with Skyrim being really easy. As for the thieves guild, wasn’t difficult, just too tedious.

    • Karachi500

Hell yea, both of them and probably could’ve have them twice… Demon’s Souls and Darksouls… EPIC! XD

    • R4D10K177

I have platinumed Demons Souls and have only one trophy left for DarkSouls besides the plat so two if you count that

  • Androol

I have AC2, RE5, and GoW. And something like three more that aren’t on the list. Heavy Rain, NFS Shift, Prince of Persia. Would have a couple more if not for the multiplayer trophies. I’m surprised that two HD Collection games made the list.

    • Androol

Oh, also have ME2, and would probably have MGS4 if there’d been trophies in that (i.e. I’ve got all the badges).

  • Red

I think the “easyiness” of those games has far less to do with them having the most platinums earned. It has to do with the fact that those games are mostly games which don’t have multiplayer trophies/achievements. A lot of other games would have more platinums earned if game companies would stop putting in multiplayer trohpies as a must have for that platinum. Not everyone wants to play multiplayer and those people that don’t care about multiplayer likely have all the single player trophies/achievements earned. I’d have platinum trophies for AC:B and AC:R if Ubisoft hadn’t made a bunch of the trophies multiplayer.

I really hope with the next console generation that single player trophies/achievements are seperate from multiplayer trophies/achievements. I’ll gladly platinum a ton of games on single player and have no platniums for the multiplayer. I can live with that. And so can many, many others.

I’ve got skyrim and gow 3, almost have gow and gow 2, and I only have to beat mass effect 2 on insanity then I’ll have that platinumed as well. I’d have more but I don’t always try to get every trophy.

  • MattBearPig

The Godfather II on a single playthrough…stupid easy.

  • HelghastUser

“So what are the top 10 least platinum’d games? I’d probably have to say WipEout HD is somewhere up there.”

    – I remember reading that Wipeout was nearly impossible. That game and ‘Tom Clancys End war’..

“Ranters, do you have any of these platinums?”

    – Working on RE5 as a matter of fact. But it’s extremely time consuming. 75% on GOW1 and GOW3 I think I’m at %55 and probably won’t platinum until I’m bored again.

“What other games have you scored 100% in?”

    – Killzone 2 and it was rewarding and worth it. That’s about it..

  • blitzkaiser

on the contrary i would strongly say that GT5 is the hardest of them all ;ahem getting at least 3rd place on all nascar trials took me weeks to complete and in return i would just get a freakin bronze trophy on the tracker

  • GameCollector44

Well, out of these, I have Uncharted 1/2, Sly 1, and inFamous 1.

With other plats, I have Shadow of the Colossus, Sly 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Rayman Origins, Portal 2, and Uncharted 3. Working on Sly 3/Worms 2: Armageddon.

  • Geordy

    I have platinum’d:
    Battlefield bad company 2
    Infamous (88% on infamous 2)
    Kill zone 3
    Just cause 2

That’s it for now, but with some time off work now I’m hoping to get a few more😀
