Respawn Entertainment lead writer Jesse Stern confirms that Titanfall 2 will have a single player campaign, and that a TV series is in development at Lionsgate TV.

With the original Titanfall selling over 10 million units, it would be hard to argue that it wasn't a success. However, the game was not without its critics, with one of the most common complaints from gamers being Titanfall's lack of a true single player campaign. Those critics will be silenced when Titanfall 2 releases, however, as the game is now now confirmed to have a fully-fledged single player campaign.

News of the single player campaign comes from Jesse Stern, the lead writer of Titanfall 2 at Respawn Entertainment. He acknowledged that a shortcoming of the original game was its lack of single player, but hopes to rectify that problem in the sequel. Stern says that Respawn Entertainment is looking to retell the story of the American Civil War in space, and the success of the original game has given them the resources needed to accomplish that feat.

In addition to Titanfall 2 and the Titanfall Online spin-off, work is progressing on another Titanfall project: a Titanfall TV series. However, Stern says that fans shouldn't consider the TV series a solid bet, as financial trouble could likely keep the series from truly getting off the ground.  As Stern explained, "It would be very expensive. We are trying to find a way to tell a story in the worlds we want to be in and produce in the TV model."

Due to these financial hurdles, the Titanfall TV series is a distant prospect at best. However, fans can expect to see Titanfall 2 within the next year, as EA has confirmed Titanfall 2 for release before March 2017. Assuming Respawn Entertainment is sticking to that timeline, then the first footage of the game will likely drop within the next six months, with the safest bets pegging the sequel's debut for E3 2016. So while Titanfall 2 wasn't at E3 2015, E3 2016 could prove very exciting for fans of the franchise.

When EA and Respawn decide to properly reveal Titanfall 2, hopefully the game's single player campaign is a focus. Many of the developers at Respawn Entertainment formerly worked at Infinity Ward during the days of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, which are two games with critically acclaimed, groundbreaking FPS campaigns. This makes the potential for a Titanfall 2 single player campaign that much more exciting.
