Marvel's Daredevil saw its end within its third season on Netflix, which was deemed a massive success in the eyes of many fans. Its finale contained a plethora of arcs that came to a satisfactory close, which saw the end of Wilson Fisk's and Matt Murdock's battle. After finally joining the roster within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), many viewers have been wondering whether the newly announced Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney Plus will be a continuation of the original.

As it is confirmed to be a reboot introducing new stakes, confrontations, and potentially new characters, questions remain as to what this series will entail and whether or not it will maintain the same elements as before.

6 Less Of A Mature Age Rating

Bullseye

One of the main reasons why Marvel's Daredevil was held so dearly by many of its fans was its grounded, authentic, and realistic feeling throughout its entirety. Many of its mature themes and sequences were completed to a high standard, featuring some of the best fighting scenes among the plethora of Marvel TV shows.

With Daredevil: Born Again entering a new vein within the MCU and Disney Plus, fans will suspect a potential major shift in its mature-rated themes and fight scenes, to ensure that much younger audiences can consume the show. Depending on how far it may go, this could be detrimental to its success.

5 Punisher Return

Based on recent rumors of scheduling issues and the potential omission of Jessica Jones, the return of Frank Castle may be increasingly likely. Fans of Marvel's The Punisher have also been awaiting the announcement of the character's introduction within the MCU considering its end along with all the other Marvel Netflix series'.

Considering the assumption of a more child-appropriate series this time around, the discussion of the Punisher's return has sparked hope among fans of the maintenance of a mature rating, as Jon Bernthal only wishes to return to the role if the themes are kept to the same standards.

4 Spider-Man Cameo Or Reference

Peter Parker/Spider-Man

As Charlie Cox's Daredevil integration within the MCU was first present within Spider-Man No Way Home and the two characters share a close bond in comics, the likelihood of Tom Holland's Spider-Man is becoming more of a possibility to fans.

The chances of this occurring beforehand would have been great for viewers, with more room for cameos but with the pair in the MCU, there is a chance for producers to please fans to the highest capability. This will come down to how important or necessary it is for Spider-Man to appear, and is not a guarantee considering Tom Holland's break from the character.

3 Retcons From Netflix Series

Daredevil defeats Wilson Fisk

Season 3's ending spelled the end of the road for Wilson Fisk after his arrest following his bout with Daredevil and Bullseye. With Fisk's return in Disney Plus' Hawkeye, fans will be aware of the retcon in Fisk being imprisoned. This could potentially be the result of a time skip off-screen or the decision to completely ignore the ending of its original.

With its release slated for 2024, fans will be waiting to see how much writers and producers decide to stick with or omit to implement their own vision on the character of Daredevil and the rest of New York's villains.

2 Higher Comic Accuracy

Wilson Fisk

Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye contained a drastic change that was much more suited to the character's comic version. Fisk's durability and its origin have always been in question among all fans, as he can take on heroes like Spider-Man. With Daredevil: Born Again, it is clear that it will be taking the same route present in Hawkeye.

From being hit with an arrow to being hit with full force by a vehicle, it appears as though writers wish to have Fisk much stronger than the original Netflix series, but fans will wonder how far this will go and how much of an overall impact this may have on the series' level of realism and story.

1 New Villains

Bullseye

Another villain present within the Netflix finale season was Bullseye, who assumed the role of Daredevil but committed acts opposite of Matt Murdock's ideals, murdering anybody who got in his way. Despite this, the combination of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk's efforts, Bullseye was ultimately defeated and left paralyzed. A return for Wilson Bethel as Poindexter is also uncertain, considering the new series' departure from the original. In light of his return taking place, this character's end in season 3 will have to be another event writers must retcon.

While that is currently unlikely as it could potentially be a repeat of what fans were already able to consume, the introductions of new villains are almost a certainty. As Kingpin, Bullseye, and The Hand in Marvel's The Defenders have played their roles as villains for Daredevil to combat, it will be time for a shift to different plot lines with these same characters or a new cast of characters fans are yet to see. Vincent D'Onofrio will be reprising his role in the series, so a combination of Kingpin and other villains may suffice, but the plot is yet to be revealed.

Daredevil: Born Again is in development for a 2024 release.
