Lovecraftian horror games seem to be all the rage nowadays, and the latest one to launch is The Sinking City, which blends horror elements with investigative gameplay in an open world setting. Some people may be interested in the game after reading some Sinking City reviews, and may be wondering how long it takes to beat before they decide to pick it up or not.

Unfortunately, there is not enough data available from the review aggregate website How Long to Beat to determine how long it will take most players to beat The Sinking City on average. However, based on our own time with the game, we estimate that it it will likely take around 15 to 20 hours for players to beat the main story, and somewhere between 30 to 40 hours for those who also spend time exploring the open world and completing side quests.

Completing the main quest will take the majority of the time in The Sinking City, but there are some interesting things worth seeking out in open world Oakmont as well. For example, The Sinking City has a Big Lebowski easter egg that players can find, and there are likely many other secrets hidden in Oakmont for those with the desire to find them.

Fans of Frogwares' past work and others may be able to look past the technical issues in The Sinking City to thoroughly explore the game. In our Sinking City review, we listed a number of problems that hold the game back from reaching its full potential, but even so, there's no denying that it does offer a full game experience in terms of length.

Whether or not that's enough to justify The Sinking City's $60 price tag will be up for everyone to determine themselves. Perhaps Frogwares will release patches to iron out some of the issues, which may make it worth picking it up for hungry Lovecraft fans that are still on the fence about the game.

The Sinking City is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
