Prepped and ready for the first update to the game since its December release, Star Wars: The Old Republic was slated to launch its 1.1 update today entitled Rise of the Rakghouls. However, this update has been put on hold until further testing is completed.
Downtime was originally scheduled for today for approximately eight hours and will now occur at a later date due to issues requiring additional testing, issues that were discovered when the 1.1 update was tested on the Public Test Server. Players who were participating in the test brought forth various issues and bug reports to The Old Republic team, necessitating the need for the delay.
The time frame for the 1.1 update to go live for all servers could be as little as a few days, but the testing teams need to ensure that all bugs and issues are addressed before releasing the update to the masses. The official blog posted an update, giving a brief update on the situation.
“We’re working hard to bring you Game Update 1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls and are working hard to ensure your overall experience with Star Wars: The Old Republic is spectacular! The maintenance window for Game Update 1.1 will be rescheduled for some time within the next few days, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
On the surface, the delay is not out of the ordinary. Whenever new content is released, there is always the potential for updates to cause conflicting issues for current, working systems. However, with The Old Republic already officially putting out information in regards to the next update in March, consumers may wonder how much testing that update will need to avoid delays, and will this delay impact the more ambitious March update?

To be honest, they probably delayed the game because the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo, which is also an EA product, was released today. They probably just didn’t want people trying to play the new content in SW:TOR and not even touch the demo.
Cody,
Possibly; they didn’t really expand on what issues they were having on the blog, though I’m still going to take them at their word.
