While fans are eager to re-play one of the PS3's last great games, in 1080p and 60 frames-per-second no less, many are curious to know whether The Last of Us Remastered will feature any new content beyond the current selection of DLC. The good news is developer Naughty Dog does have future DLC plans for The Last of Us and gamers should hear more about that soon.

However, gamers may be disappointed to learn that this forthcoming The Last of Us DLC will be wholly multiplayer-focused. As Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer definitively claims, there will be no more single player DLC for the critically acclaimed game.

At the same time, that doesn't mean Naughty Dog is finished with The Last of Us' story, only that players will have to look to a sequel for more on the adventures of Joel and Ellie. While some believe that The Last of Us is its own self-contained thing, there are plenty of fans that think a sequel could work, Naughty Dog included.

As Meyer explains, if the developer didn't explore what a Last of Us 2 could be they would be doing a disservice to fans. Again, this doesn't mean there will be a sequel; only that Naughty Dog is not against the idea.

"I think we always make a smart decision in that all of our games are self-contained stories so they don't have to continue if we don't want them to or if there's no reason for them to continue. It really comes down to is there something interesting in this universe we've created that we want to continue to explore? Is it something that we can get the entire team passionate about? Is it something we can get the creative directors excited about and then we could continue it? We're just starting to explore ideas of what more could there be in this universe and starting that decision process. That doesn't mean the end result is guaranteed."

And even if The Last of Us 2 were to get the green light, it might still be a ways off, as original TLOU directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are piloting Nathan Drake's (presumed) final adventure in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Obviously, Naughty Dog could begin work on a sequel without Straley and Druckmann, but that would kind of go against their whole message of doing the sequel under the perfect circumstances.

For now, though, the focus is on The Last of Us Remastered, which is just a few days away from release. As a result, a ton of new info and images from the highly anticipated upgrade have begun to surface, including the impressive images below.

As well, GamePur has confirmed that the Remastered version of the game will require 50GB of minimum hard drive space on the PS4. It's unclear whether the game install will total 50GB in size, or if that takes into account all the various Last of Us DLC that has released, but regardless that's one of the biggest current-gen installs we've seen to-date.

We also have one of the first images of The Last of Us Remastered running through Vita Remote Play just in case any gamers were wondering how the game might look streamed from a PS4 to Sony's handheld. And while it's hard to fully judge the image, it appears the game will look just fine.

In fact, we don't doubt Naughty Dog will knock this one out of the park like they did with The Last of Us the first time around. There's no question that the game was one of the best Sony exclusives in the PS3's entire library, and now it will stake its claim on the PS4 fan base as well.

Did you hope there would be more The Last of Us single player DLC? Would you like to see a sequel (no spoilers)?

The Last of Us Remastered releases July 29, 2014 for PS4.
