The following article contains spoilers for The Boys season 3.Fresh from yet another highly successful season, The Boys continues one of Amazon Prime Video's go-to shows. However, showrunner Eric Kripke is not sleeping on his laurels, already planning out what lies ahead for two fan favorites supes, Queen Maeve and Soldier Boy.

The Boys season 3 finale delivered shock and awe, just like it had promised, and among those surprises was the apparent retirement of one of The Seven's longest-serving members, Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), as well as former American icon Soldier Boy being put back in ice. Joining the list of casualties was also its most silent assassin, though The Boys might have plans for the Black Noir already put in place. As for the other two, well they might be coming back sooner rather than later.

In an interview for Deadline, Kripke detailed some of the real-life events that inspired The Boys' season three climax. He also touched on why fans shouldn’t dismiss potential comebacks, especially for Soldier Boy and Maeve, with the latter falling under the “We definitely won’t reach the end of the series without seeing Maeve again” category. The way Kripke sees the story, it was ultimately necessary for Maeve to fade away, as she was constantly finding herself saving Starlight whenever circumstances got too tricky for Annie.

Regardless of that, Kripke still sees room for Queen Maeve to take some time off her farm life to help Annie in case she were to find herself “in real danger if she can’t figure it out for herself.” As for Jensen Ackles' beloved character, the showrunner merely said he hopes to “see Soldier Boy again.” Although considering his superweapon status, it seems unlikely his next slumber will last as long.

In its third season, The Boys managed to hold its place as one of the most-watched streaming series out there, only losing out to Stranger Things 4 once that landed on Netflix but still remaining as strong as Homelander. The Boys has plenty of questions it needs to answer as it heads into season 4, nevertheless, that in itself might mean seeing more characters from The Boys comic book show up next.

With Amazon Prime Day offering so many deals, perhaps the series could see an uptick in viewership thanks to new or temporary subscribers tuning for The Boys' satirical take on superheroes and modern politics.

The Boys is available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
