DC's newest Batman adaptation is well on its way and while details of the film are largely still unknown, McFarlane Toys has provided a glimpse of what costumes can be expected from Paul Dano's Riddler and Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman.

With the release of The Batman steadily approaching, many have broken down teasers and promo photos with the hope of getting an idea of what to expect in the newest adaptation. As difficult as that's been, McFarlane Toys has now offered Batman fans a new look into the upcoming film.

McFarlane Toys currently has a figure of Catwoman, The Riddler, Batman, and a replica of the Batcycle available for pre-order. These figures have given a new glimpse into the vague world of The Batman, including the looks that Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, and The Riddler will sport. Catwoman's figure shows her in a long-sleeve black suit that covers her from head to toe. The only thing to be seen on her is her eyes, as the mask conceals the lower part of her face and the top of her head. At the back of the mask are two small cat ears that would be hard to spot if people weren't aware of the character. This costuming choice draws on Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway's renditions as Catwoman, as both women wore a conservative black spandex suit. By the appearance of the figure, Kravitz will follow in their wardrobing choices and not the Halle Berry version.

The Riddler and Catwoman figures

Unlike Kravitz's costume, Dano's The Riddler sports an unfamiliar look. Instead of the classic green spandex suit riddled with black question marks, Dano's figure is seen in a muted green jacket. He wears a mask that matches, topped with a pair of clear glasses. Sticking with the villain's signature color of green, the muted tone of the normally vibrant color matches the grim world of Gotham. Aside from the use of the color green, the identifying mark is located over the heart of the figurine. There, is a black patch with a white question mark drawn on it. The subtlety of this Riddler costume, as opposed to his typical flashiness, gives it a homemade feel that fits well within the context of Gotham and its troubling poverty and crime rates.

Both Kravitz and Dano will be joined in The Batman by Robert Pattinson, who will play the film's named character. Jeffrey Wright will appear as James Gordon, Venom 2 director Andy Serkis will appear as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell will debut as The Penguin. While television series like Gotham featured a close relationship between The Penguin and The Riddler, it's unlikely that The Batman will spotlight the relationship in the same manner. However, the shared motive and past comic history between the two means that should the Riddler and Penguin unite, they will be a formidable opponent for Batman.

Those who are wary of another Batman adaptation will find themselves surprised with what The Batman will have to offer. Composed of a strong and emotionally diverse cast, the concealed elements of The Batman's plot make it a film that much more exciting to see. With the new look provided by the figures McFarlane Toys has released, the buzz around The Batman continues to grow stronger.

The Batman is scheduled for theatrical release on March 4, 2022.
