There are few companies in the gaming industry that treat their customers as well as Valve. Whether they're giving away one of their top games for free or opening up their service to other platforms, Valve can really do no wrong. Now, it even seems as if they will be throwing their hat into the ring with their own game based on the massively popular DotA formula.

Then, there are their famous Team Fortress 2 updates. Ever since launch, Valve has been systematically releasing updates to each of the nine different classes, adding achievements, new weapons and more recently unlockable hats. It would be an understatement to say that Team Fortress 2 has changed since it was first released. Three years later, Team Fortress 2 has evolved into one of the most addictive, and genuinely fun experiences I've come across in recent years.

While updates have been released for each of the nine classes, Valve is now working on a new update that will be adding a feature that gamers have been yearning for ever since the introduction of unlockable items in the game: Trading. Now, instead of playing for hours on end in order to unlock that one hat you've had your eye on, you will be able to trade some of your hard-earned unlockables to other players in exchange for that one special item you've been looking for.

On top of that, they will be adding a brand new game mode and about twenty new weapons and hats to unlock. While there are no details available at the moment, there's no doubt that it'll be a great addition to the already massive variety of ways to play Team Fortress 2 at the moment.

As for the new items being introduced, Valve is looking to the community this time. The winners of the recent Polycount contest are getting the chance of a lifetime, being able to see their very own creations come to life on computer screens all over the world. That's right, Valve's favorite community-submitted weapon and hat packs will soon be making their way into the game, and for anyone that thinks that these items will be inferior since they're being created by the community, you can rest easy. Not only do some of them look positively hilarious -- I'm looking at you crocodile disguise -- but some look to be useful as well, like the new scout pistol that I'd be willing to guess acts almost like a shotgun judging by appearances.  Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited to get my hands on these new items as it looks like they'll add some new and exciting strategies to the already frantic matches.

While there's no release date for the update yet, it shouldn't be long before you'll be able to take to the online battlefield clad in a stylish milkman hat, smacking people with your mackerel. There's no doubt that when this update launches, you'll be seeing things that you've never seen in Team Fortress 2 before or in any other game for that matter. It'll definitely be interesting to see how fans receive these new changes and rather odd new items.

How do you feel about the update? Do the new items have you interested or are you happy with what we already have?
