Just in time for the release of Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, Target offers a 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' sale on video games, running for one week only.

Target is looking to get ahead in the game market long before Black Friday this year, offering a special deal starting on November 8th. The retailer chain's promotion promises a 'Buy 2, Get 1 Free' deal on their entire stock of video games.

The sole exception to the sale is Amiibo, which is fairly reasonable, since Amiibo tend to sell-out rapidly even under normal circumstances. It would appear that games that are bundled with Amiibo are exempt from this rule, however, as Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is featured on Target's leaked ad. All other titles, whether old or new, are up for grabs. Gamers should take note that the least expensive title being purchased will be the one declared free, so it makes more sense to either buy three older, inexpensive titles, or three recent and full-price ones, in order to make the most out of the deal.

Unfortunately, this sale will only be on for one week, so titles that are due out later this year will be exempt. Target will undoubtedly unveil other great deals during their Black Friday sales and as the holidays shopping season nears its end, but for now, this deal is unparalleled. Stock will undoubtedly sell out quickly, too, and Target won't be issuing any rain checks.

Target is undoubtedly looking to repeat the success of their Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale from last year, which they held around this time. The bargain gives them an opportunity to take a bite out of game sales from places like Best Buy and GameStop, and it's conveniently timed just before the release of Fallout 4. Considering that Target is also the sole store where gamers will be able to buy Nuka Cola Quantum, it's undoubtedly no coincidence that they would start this sale in time for Fallout 4.

Whether you're eager to try out some new releases or want to pick up some older titles that you missed during their initial release, this deal is too good to pass up. It'll be interesting to see what other electronics and game retailers do to compete with Target in the months to come. Whether you celebrate the holidays or not, there's no argument that it's a great time to be a gamer, with AAA titles and great sales premiering at the same time.

The Target Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale will run from November 8th til the end of the week.
