Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo Available

Everyone itchy to get their stealth-kill-via-throat-chop on won’t have to wait any longer – because the Splinter Cell: Conviction demo is now available on Xbox LIVE.

A glimpse of Sam Fisher’s quest to find out who killed his daughter and the conspiracy surrounding him will take up 1.19 GB on your hard drive and is only available for Gold members as of now.

Conviction will take place a couple of years following the events of the last game - Splinter Cell: Double Agent and follows Sam Fisher, now a rogue agent, as he pursues the people who are responsible for the death of his daughter. The game features a number of new updates to the series including co-operative play and interrogation mechanics.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo Confirmed

Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo Confirmed

In another ComDev video released by Ubisoft, Splinter Cell: Conviction creative director Maxime Beland confirmed there will be a demo of the game.

However, Beland couldn’t confirm what portion of the game the demo will feature or when the demo would be released at all – but it is coming.

I’m very anxious to see how Ubisoft Montreal has redefined stealth-action, or is it action-stealth now?

Splinter Cell: Conviction Sam Fisher Trailer

I’ve never seen as many behind-the-scenes videos for a series of games as the Splinter Cell franchise. Splinter Cell: Conviction is certainly no different – and rightfully so – as Ubisoft has been churning out great videos for the title.

This latest trailer focuses on beloved voice actor (and Richter from Total Recall) Michael Ironside who describes the voice acting process for Conviction.

Feast Upon This New Splinter Cell: Conviction Story Trailer

Splinter Cell: Conviction is shaping up to be a great looking action/stealth title, with definite emphasis on action in this new trailer Ubisoft has been so kind to release upon wanting eyes. This new trailer focuses a bit more on the story of Sam Fischer’s past and his future (which is filled with shooting people and punching them in the throat with guns). Keep your eyes peeled to see a bit of pre-Third Echelon Sam Fischer in the Middle East as a Navy SEAL.

Splinter Cell: Conviction: Mansion Infiltration Gameplay

Splinter Cell: Conviction: Mansion Infiltration Gameplay

If you think “Splinter Cell: Conviction is going to be more bad-ass then a zombie ninja riding a Tyrannosaurus Rex fighting a flying robot pirate” then I don’t think you’ve exaggerated at all. This is one of those games that every time you see it in action a little bit of you dies because you can’t play it right now!

This trailer does just that. Sam is surgically removing each and every bad guy while they run around so afraid that if they somehow manage to luckily make it out alive (and by luckily I mean Sam lets them go) then they just might go patch things up with their god(s).

Borderlands & Splinter Cell NECA Figures Coming

Borderlands & Splinter Cell NECA Figures Coming

If you’re like me, ever since you played Borderlands, you have wanted a claptrap of your own.  Well, it looks like that dream may be coming true sometime in the near future.  A tweet from NECA Toy’s Randy Falk revealed this fact.  It goes a little something like this:

“thanks, Borderlands, Splinter Cell, & loads more to come. Toy Fair showings only cover thru June.”

I personally don’t own any video game figures, but I would love to have a few to populate and add a little charm to my desk.  If a claptrap figure becomes available, I’ll be definitely be among the first to pick one up.  Man I love those little machines.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Gets A Release Date (Again)

The release date for one of the most anticipated games of the year, Splinter Cell: Conviction, is now “set in stone”.  Earlier today Ubisoft pushed out an official tweet (@ubisoft) with a twitpic of a rock engraved with “4.13.10″, Conviction’s new release date. This is a good sign for fans of the series. Initially Conviction was given a Q4 2009 release, which was then pushed back to February, before another delay to where it now sits.

Since this time the date is in stone, it appears to be happening. Recently I added an Xbox 360 to my console arsenal, and since that day, Splinter Cell: Conviction has been at the top of my most anticipated games list.

Expect 12-16 Hours of Splinter Cell: Conviction

In a chat conducted on Facebook, Splinter Cell: Conviction’s game director Patrick Redding had a few things to say regarding the new episode of the famed action stealth franchise. No need to fluff it up with useless minutia, this is what the man had to say on the game’s length:

“Game length for story (SP and COOP combined) should run between 12 and 16 hours… With Deniable Ops, it will be interesting to see how much replay value players get out of it!”

New Splinter Cell: Conviction Trailer

We all know that Splinter Cell: Conviction was delayed by Ubisoft. So Ubi, being the kind and gentle souls they are, have released a new trailer to try to quell the thirsts of anxious gamers – brought on by the title’s delay.

In the trailer, Victor Coste (a friend of Sam Fisher), details all the things Sam is capable of and how these people have really screwed-up by messing with him.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Gets Epic Multiplayer

Assassin’s Creed 2 has only been available for about two months but, thanks to a financial press release from Ubisoft, the Assassin’s Creed 3 speculation is about to take off.

In general, the press release, which also detailed the delay of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction into April 2010, presented lowered sales targets for Ubisoft’s third-quarter and full-year (2009-2010), as well as reassured investors that the publisher has a strong set of titles in the pipeline.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed

An updated financial press release was just sent out from Ubisoft and it contained some very important information on some of their upcoming games.

To sum it up quickly, Ubisoft has not met their target financial resuls and even with the success of Assassin’s Creed 2, they’ve significantly lowered their targets for the end of their fiscal 2009-10 year. As a result, there will be postponed release dates for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction and R.U.S.E.

The plan going forward it to focus on the major franchises they own onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 going forward as they’re expected to see the greatest sales growth in 2010.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Co-Op & Collector’s Edition Details

Splinter Cell fans, it’s time to start getting excited for the release of Splinter Cell Conviction and to get you going we have a new video featuring gameplay footage from the upcoming game’s co-op campaign mode. The short campaign follows Russian agent Kestrel and American agent Archer in 4 missions which serve as a prologue to the game’s main storyline.

The co-op mode is also getting some abilities which will be exclusive to the mode.:When one player is grabbed by an enemy, that player can elbow the enemy to give his partner a chance at a clear shot. Players will also be able to revive their teammates when they’re downed. The downed teammate will also have the option of firing from the ground or playing dead until his partner comes to the rescue.

Patrick Redding, Co-Op Designer at Ubisoft Montreal, compares Conviction’s co-op with the gameplay featured in past Splinter Cell titles:

Splinter Cell: Conviction Co-op?

Splinter Cell: Conviction Co-op?

PC Zone magazine has confirmed that co-op gameplay will be featured in Splinter Cell Conviction. No word on whether it will be strictly over online play or if it will feature a split-screen mode. For the Xbox 360 this will be the first time you will be able to do co-op missions in a Splinter Cell game.

Unfortunately when Splinter Cell Double Agent was released on the Xbox 360, it did not have the co-operative missions that were featured in the Xbox and Ps2 versions of the game. The lack of the feature is what swayed me into buying the original Xbox version of the game. Splinter Cell co-op is some of the best co-op I have played and I am extremely thrilled for it’s next generation debut.
