2009 Inside Gaming Awards Nominees Announced

If you’re a gamer and a follower of industry news, you need to check out the Inside Gaming Awards, a huge new gaming awards show from Machinima.com.  If you watch trailers and previews online, then you’ve no doubt come across Machinima’s widely popular YouTube channel for which we’ve used ourselves here at Game Rant to share trailers with you.

Up until December 7th, voting will open for everyone for the Gamers’ Choice awards.  It’s a very unique and cool (if not first of its kind) voting mechanic: there is one video for each nominee, and each video view counts as a vote.  Each video contains clickable links to easily navigate around all the categories and nominees.

The awards will take place on December 11th 2009, the night before the Spike TV Video Game Awards, and offer another way for gamers to participate and celebrate a great year in gaming. Machinima’s new awards program is the first of its kind and we have the nominees for the awards listed below.

Albert Wesker Returning for Lost Planet 2!

If you happen to be a fan of Resident Evil 5 and you also happen to be eagerly anticipating the release of Lost Planet 2 - then your in luck! Albert Wesker has been confirmed as a playable character (along with his signature huge ass pistol) for anybody who preorders Lost Planet 2 at their local GameStop.

If Albert Wesker is a sign of things to come then maybe we could still see Megaman in Lost Planet 2 as well? Nobody knows except for Capcom, but be sure that if Game Rant hears anything, we’ll be sure to let you know!

Paul W.S. Anderson Eyes Castlevania (Again)

Paul W.S. Anderson Eyes Castlevania (Again)

I can think of no other video game franchise that I am bigger fan of then the Konami classic Castlevania.  So naturally you would expect that I would be delighted to hear that a live action feature film based on the vampire hunting videogame franchise is in the works… or so you would think.

The Castlevania feature film is supposed to focus on the origin of the endless battle between the Belmont clan and the dark lord Dracula. The project has been trying to get off the ground for years, with a revolving door of directors/producers and writers. As far as acting goes, the only name I’ve ever heard attached to this picture was that of Johnathan Frakes (Star Trek: TNG).  However, now there is some new information courtesy of the boys over at Bloody-Disgusting.

RE5 Alternative Edition Content To Be Released as DLC

According to Capcom Unity, the new content being included in the Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition will be made available as downloadable content for Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Capcom is being a little hush hush about what the content will entail, but they did reveal there would be some new adventures as well as other features they’re not ready to reveal yet. The Alternative Edition will support the PS3’s motion controller, while options are being evaluated for Xbox 360 players. You’ll need the RE5 disc to take advantage of the content so make sure you hold onto it instead of trading it in or giving it to your best friend. As if you would! Expect the additional content to be available Spring 2010.

Undead Shamble Their Way Onto Wii

Undead Shamble Their Way Onto Wii

Just in case you’ve been looking to get your Resident Evil fix somewhere other than in a couple of on-rail shooters, Capcom has announced they will be releasing Resident Evil Zero for the Nintendo Wii under the Resident Evil Archives line.

If you don’t remember, Resident Evil Zero was the last of the Resident Evil games to use the original turn and run control style and focus more on the survival aspect and less on the action that would later be seen in Resident Evil 4 and 5. Originally Released on the Gamecube in 2002, the game serves as a prequel to the original resident evil storyline. You play through as rookie S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and escaped convict, Billy Coen, as they unravel some of the origin of the ever shady Umbrella Corporation.
