What does Madden NFL 11 predict for this year NFL regular season? Hint: Aaron Rodgers is a beast.

With the NFL season right around the corner, it’s time for EA Sports to peek into the future with the help of Madden NFL 11. EA has been right on the money recently with their game predictions, so if you’re going to Vegas, maybe you should put it all on EA

The simulation has left only one question in Packer fans’ minds, “Brett who?”. MVP Aaron Rodgers tore up defenses all over the league for a total of 4,639 yards and 36 TDs, to lead the league in both categories. However, Brett Favre is no slouch, he led the Vikings to a 12-4 record which tied the Packers for tops in the NFC.

The Chicago Blackhawks of NHL fame put out the San Jose Sharks yesterday and progressed to the Stanley Cup Finals. What makes this team so dominant? Well, apparently it’s Mario Kart Wii that keeps them calm cool and collected when game time approaches.

Blackhawks’ Centre, Colin Fraser, was on the mic for a video on the NHL Network detailing the team’s “bonding time.”

Hockey fans can check out the video right after the jump:

These guys are very much in a position where they could win the Stanley Cup, and who do they have to thank? Mario Kart… or maybe all the years of practice they’ve had. The Chicago Blackhawks will take on either the Montreal Canadians or Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup Finals. I know who I’m rooting for (hint: it’s the Blackhawks).

Remember, NHL…

NPD recently released its list of the top ten best selling domestic non-PC titles and we have a surprise winner. It’s not an Xbox 360 title, nor a PS3 one; it is in fact a Wii release. And a mini-game compilation to boot.

The winner is: Wii Play.

When you think about it, the result isn’t too surprising. Being bundled with a Wii Remote and only being priced a few dollars more makes Wii Play an attractive option for Wii owners.

According to NPD, Wii Play sold 11.1 million units in the U.S., beating out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which only (yeah, only) sold 8.82 million. Guitar Hero III came a close second with 10.2 million units and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came third with 9.8 million.

Wii Play was also…

Even though Modern Warfare 2 only sold for one month it placed twice on the list with its 360 title taking top honors. Nintendo on the whole performed very well, claiming 4 of the top 5 spots and 6 spots overall on the list. It’s also important to note that 3 of Nintento’s titles listed in the top 5 were not released in 2009.

The list is posted below along with the number of units sold and the release dates for the games:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360) 4.2 million (November 10, 2009)

Wii Fit w/ Balance Board (Wii) 3.5 million (May 21, 2008)

After all of the talk about which system was dominating Black Friday sales, and which system was about to become ancient history, NPD’s release of its November report for the United States almost seemed anticlimactic. I mean, when has Michael Pachter ever been wrong?

But, lo and behold, there was quite a surprise awaiting all of us in the November 2009 report:

The Nintendo DS sold 1.70 million units? Take that PSP!

But seriously, in the battle hardcore gamers follow, the “left for dead” Xbox 360 managed to outsell the PS3 by almost 110,000 units. The Nintendo Wii continued its dominance this generation and sold an impressive 1.26 million units despite a less than stellar game library.

Here’s a look at the November hardware sales numbers:

Nintendo DS — 1.70M

Nintendo Wii — 1.26M

Microsoft Xbox 360 — 819.5K

Sony PS3 — 710.4K

Sony PSP — 293.9K
