As the fifth core game in the Halo series, Halo 5: Guardians has enormous expectations to meet. But thanks to the efforts of developer 343 Industries, and with the financial backing of Microsoft, it’s set to be one of the biggest and most impressive games in the series to date.
Halo 5 will be a sequel to 2012’s Halo 4, and will follow Spartan Locke on his mission to track down the famed Master Chief after he goes missing. Locke will have to solve the mystery of his disappearance while still addressing the merciless attacks on space colonies. Much of the plot remains a mystery, but Halo 5: Guardians is sure to feature the creative worldbuilding and insanely fun multiplayer that has made the series such a hit.
Those looking for a sneak peek of Halo 5 were able to play a beta version of the game’s multiplayer with purchase of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Problems with the matchmaking system left many gamers frustrated with its initial release, but plenty of fans are still salivating for the finished version.
Halo 5: Guardians is set for release on October 27, 2015. To accompany the game’s release, Steven Spielberg is set to produce a Halo TV series, with Showtime in talks to air it.
