During E3 2013's Nintendo Direct, gamers were happy to see that the next entry in the Super Smash Bros. franchise was in development, but were especially delighted to hear there would be two versions of the game: one for Nintendo 3DS and one for Wii U. Better news still, Nintendo released information on three completely new characters joining the fray, including The Villager from Animal Crossing , The Trainer from Wii Fit and The Blue Bomber himself, Mega Man.

While the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U trailers have given small glimpses into the look and feel of some of the new characters, there is nothing quite like raw gameplay footage to give an accurate portrayal of how they will actually perform in-game. Since the title is early in development, we weren't expecting to see that much, so imagine our surprise when Nintendo decided to show off some early gameplay featuring Mega Man at its Pre-E3 show.

Appropriately, Super Smash Bros. veteran and Nintendo's main man, Mario, faced the newcomer. What resulted was a short, but furious fight where a vast majority of Mega Man's moves were shown off. It was established in the trailer that he would have access to a number of powers from various Mega Man bosses, but what we observed was an arsenal of weapons and attacks. It was impressive.

The commentary may be a little hokey, but it managed to produce a few chuckles from the crowd, and gives a little more insight as to what moves are being utilized. While we would have absolutely loved to see Mega Man's Final Smash, we were more than content with this preview and we're looking forward to seeing more from him and all the new characters -- yes, even the Wii Fit Trainer.
