Rocksteady Studios quickly went from little-known developer to one of the most beloved and respected in the industry with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum. The following games in the series were very well received, with Arkham City being the highest rated Batman game ever. However, Rocksteady went on a rather large hiatus after 2015's Arkham Knight. But the rockstar developer is finally back.

After working on Batman focused games, Rocksteady is shifting to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, with a group of villains who have been tasked to save the day against their will. There were countless leaks leading up to the game reveal, but the new trailer of the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game is finally here.

The trailer starts out showing a Metropolis that is filled with explosives, monsters, and a giant alien-looking structure. Instead of superheroes coming to save the day, Harley Quin is seen slacking off. However, she is being told that she needs to take down a target. Not to be confused with the Suicide Squad movie, the game is very much a part of the Arkham universe.

Quinn is joined by King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang. The team looks flawed, but powerful, as they take down monsters with style and flair. The plot-twist of the trailer is when Superman shows up, but not as players have thought. Superman looks to be possessed, and he kills a human, something he would very rarely do in normal circumstances. The Suicide Squad is tasked with not only taking him down, but the Justice League as a whole.

Something is obviously wrong with Superman, and most-likely the Justice Leauge as well, so the government seems to have been forced to bring some of the worst criminals/villains on earth together to take down the once-heroes. Time will tell if the Suicide Squad becomes a top-notch superhero game (or villain game), but it certainly looks intriguing.

This reveal is not to be confused with Gotham Knights, which was also just revealed. In Gotham Knights, players can take control of Robin, Batgirl, Knightwing, and even the Red Hood. According to the trailer, Batman has died, and the Court of Owls may be the reason why. Gotham Knights looks like Rocksteady Studios' Batman Arkham games, but it is being made by Warner Bros. Games Montréal.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is in development and is scheduled to release in 2022.
