As fighting game fans are well aware, one of the hardest parts about hearing that the next iteration of an established fight franchise is en route is waiting to see which characters make it onto the game's roster. While a handful of longtime combatants of the series always make a return, some of the more obscure warriors have a tendency of being left on the sidelines. In the case of Street Fighter V, there are a wide range of fighters fans are hoping to see return.

Gamers the world over are eagerly awaiting to see which other mainstays will be making their reemergence in the new PlayStation 4 console-exclusive beat 'em up. While the likes of Ryu and Chun-Li joining the fray was never a question to fans, a recent report indicates that four additional fighters may have been leaked for Street Fighter V.

According to Siliconera, four additional fighters from throughout the series' past will be making their return in the next game. Apparently Street Fighter legacy characters Urien, Alex, Karin Kanzuki, and R. Mika will all be returning in the next core installment of the series. The aforementioned site allegedly received a hot tip about the inclusion of each fighter, although Capcom has refused to officially acknowledge the leak as legitimate – nor would it for logical reasons.

Street Fighter V - Ryu Perpares

For those that aren't familiar with the four scrappers, Urien (known for his infamous tighty whities) made his debut in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, while the guy that looks like a cross between Hulk Hogan and Rambo, Alex, debuted in Street Fighter III: New Generation. These fighters have gone toe-to-toe in the past, so it'll be interesting to see how they welcome one another, provided this rumor is true.

Meanwhile, the two female butt-kickers made their first appearances in Street Fighter: Alpha 3. Karin Kanzuki originates from an incredibly wealthy family that puts even the riches of Ken Masters to shame, but that's never stopped her from opening up a can or ten on any challengers. Meanwhile, R. Mika (full name being Rainbow Mika) originates from Japan and is decked out in a very revealing blue and white leotard.

All of these characters have been absent from the franchise for several installments, which means their return is sure to be welcomed by longtime fans. Rainbow Mika in particular was one character that topped our list of five characters we want to see return in Street Fighter V, although the other three should make equally enjoyable additions – provided these reports are accurate. In the meantime, at least the longstanding fighter Birdie is confirmed to be making a return.
