Ever since last year’s Steam holiday sale ended, gamers have been anxiously awaiting for it begin again. It’s a historical event for PC gamers, commonly referenced by old timers with dreamy eyes. Now hold your breath, Ranters, because the holiday Steam sale is back and better than ever. With 37 items over 75% off and nine publisher packs, including the Valve Complete Pack, the TellTale Holiday Pack and the Bethesda Pack, at huge discounts, the holidays have truly begun.
Here’s a few key sales Game Rant recommends you seriously consider purchasing:- The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom – Only $0.49 for this puzzling 2D adventure game.
- Super Meat Boy – At $3.75, this masochistic platformer will have you addicted in minutes, and days later simultaneously regretting your purchase and begging for more.
- Valve Complete Pack – Valve packs all of their hit franchises into one pack. Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike and Team Fortress, with all of their sequels, for only $24.99.
- F.E.A.R. Complete Pack – Including both the original F.E.A.R. and its sequel, along with all three DLC packs, this is one pack you should be scared of. Ha! Only $9.99.
Don’t think that’s it though, because there’s a lot more where that came from. Plus, who knows what other sales will be rolled out through the rest of December. Valve has never held back before, and as history has shown expectations never live up to the real thing.
In addition to the standard holidays sales, Valve is introducing a new Holiday Bonus feature. The Holiday Bonus will offer greater savings on select titles if you own a specific other title. Here’s the first example of the Holiday Bonus of the season:
“For example, the first Holiday Bonus is Portal – save an extra 10% if you own Half-Life 2. If you already own the title, Steam will automatically detect this and offer you the 10% savings during check out.”
For now, the Steam store is likely being bombarded with excited PC gamers, but don’t let that frustrate you. The store will almost certainly be available within the next few hours, primed for your purchases. It’s much like a Wal-Mart trying to fit 100 angry mothers into a single revolving door. Eventually they’ll all fit through, but until then it’s best just to let them have their way.
What holiday sales have you purchased already, Ranters? What other games would you like Steam to offer a great deal on? Are you going to avoid the sale, for your wallet’s sake? Here’s a list of all of Steam’s sales… though the prices are listed in British pounds. Better than nothing!
Keep in mind that the big sales of today (Super Meat Boy, FEAR, Deus Ex, etc.) last a mere 24 hours before the new day brings new sales. The larger bundle deals and publisher catalog sales will last through January second however, giving you more time to decide on the larger purchases.

I hate Steam. So. damn. much.
I have a 384kbps connection. I get how people with their big, fancy internet can like Steam and its obnoxiousness; but to me, #%$^ Steam. Its internet whoring, line throttling, bloated, unwieldy and slow.
That Oddboxx looks pretty appetizing.
just got that bad comp 2 for 7 bux….sweet…almost bought it for 20 at the store a few days ago.
I bought Super Meat Boy. I have a Mac but I figured I’d throw down the $3.75 now and play it when it’s finally released for my operating system
Gonna grab Dragon Age Ultimate Edition. Hopefully this sale doesn’t destroy my wallet this year. Who am I kidding.
wow, people are actually complaining about Steam? They are joking right? What isn’t to be loved about steam?
