We found out about the impressive Collector’s Edition that BioWare was putting together for Star Wars: The Old Republic quite a while ago, but now we have video evidence of this monstrosity. This Star Wars MMO is one of our most anticipated upcoming games, but with all the content they have managed to include in this package, it might be hard to maximize your 2011 winter release playtime.
The first thing you will notice about this unboxing video is the sweeping score that accompanies it. It might not sound much like John Williams’ classic themes from the movies, but the grandeur of it should indicate that the inclusion of the game’s soundtrack will be an aural treat. As for the box, this thing might be even more enormous than the picture made it look.
A few things stick out now that this video has shown off a more detailed look at the package. First of all, the Journal of Master Gnost-Dural appears to be a clever way to mix a typical art book with actual lore related to the world of The Old Republic. The other surprise is how nice the Darth Malgus statue looks. High quality figures like this can run for a whole lot of money. Some people are even prepared to die for merchandise like this! It is certainly a welcome inclusion.
Check out the video below to see just how much is crammed in this $150 edition:
The rest of the content is identical to the formerly leaked information about the Collector’s Edition: a security key, a map of the galaxy, and a special metal tin containing the game. Along with those real world items, there are a few digital perks as well, for those who want a decked out avatar right out of characters creation. Collector’s Editions can be a hard sell, but dedicated Star Wars fans and MMO addicts alike will find plenty to ogle at in this edition of The Old Republic.
Now that you’ve gotten a closer look, do you think you will hand over an extra $100 for the bonus goodies, or will the regular edition suffice? Let us know in the comments below.
