With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts knew they had a winning concept on their hands but ultimately fell short in their execution due to some clunky controls and repetitive gameplay, but, never failing to capitalize on a great idea, LucasArts is back to give it another shot with The Force Unleashed 2. We have been telling you for some time that the game looks phenomenal and now we have the most in depth trailer yet.

The story, as indicated by the trailer, sees gamers once again assuming the role of Vader's ex-apprentice Starkiller as he battles the dark side of the force while, at the same time, struggling with his existence as a potential clone. As only a brief taste of the game’s story, arguably the most intriguing proposition about the property, this trailer should be a sufficient appetizer in preparation for the game’s story of redemption and self-discovery.

With cameos from Star Wars fan-favorites Boba Fett and Yoda, it is hard to imagine that any Star Wars fan, no matter how burned they might have felt after playing the first game, can pass this sequel up. If you have even the tiniest inkling of picking this game up, try out the demo next week and them make sure you pre-order from GameStop to pick up an awesome ‘Maulkiller’ skin for your character.

Despite the bad news regarding the cancellation of the PSP version of the game, gamers should believe that LucasArts wants to deliver not only a far superior version of their first game, but also want to establish the basis for what could be an extremely popular franchise. As a property, there have been many games set within the Star Wars universe that have taken gamers through experiences that they might not have wanted but none the less enjoyed. With The Force Unleashed, gamers were given a chance to be the awesome Jedi/Sith that was only hinted at in the films so no matter how these games preform there will always be a desire to play them.

What are your thoughts on The Force Unleashed 2, Ranters? Are you willing to give the property another go around despite how you felt about the first game or is it too late to for LucasArts to try again?

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 is set for an October 26th release on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, and PC.
