SSX Elise Uber Trailer Soundtrack

If you're not already excited for SSX, then you should be. While the series that ultimately defined the snowboarding genre - short-lived as it may have been - has taken a few years off to the chagrin of their fans, it's becoming increasingly clear that the development team at EA Sports has been using their time wisely. Along with two new trailers and information on the game's online Badge system comes a confirmed soundtrack list, and yes, it shall be 'Tricky.'

The development team has remained committed to their promise of an 'Uber Monday' every week, detailing the mind-blowing moves that each of the riders in SSX will be able to execute. We've already gotten a look at Mac Fraser's moveset, and are still trying to grasp the gorgeous insanity of Eddie Wachowski's repertoire, but now we've received a look at everyone's favorite betty: Elise Riggs.

With wingsuit and board in hand, have a look at the kind of moves that can be expected from Elise in just a few short weeks:

In case you were wondering just how the development team was approaching the sport this time around, Elise's character transition tells the whole story. Once a scantily clad boarder known more for her character model than her skill on the slopes, Elise is now a fully-prepared professional boarder who looks every bit as ready to take on the steepest slopes as her male counterparts.

The change has been a slow one, but shows just how important an accurate - but absurd - simulation is to the team at EA Sports. Now players will have every chance to 'Own the Planet' one mountain range at a time, with slopes recreated with greater realism than many might realize. Ever dreamed of seeing how deadly the Himalayas might be with nothing but a board to protect you? Wonder no more, and feast your eyes on the latest  trailer featuring the planet's highest peak, Mt. Everest:

While increased simulation in the name of better gameplay is all well and good, this is SSX we're talking about. The series' faithful have plenty of reason to get excited, since the gameplay teaser trailer showed that the same over-the-top fireworks and racing will be blended with tricks and traversal like never before. With a series so well-regarded for its past soundtracks, EA has released the official soundtrack for the game, complete with 10 tracks composed for the game. Have a look:

In case some of your favorite tunes didn't make the cut, players will also be able to upload their own music to the game, which will apparently be remixing and altering the songs based directly on gameplay cues. Exactly what that means is beyond us, but it definitely sounds promising. Our interest has been piqued by the announcement of SSX Drop Bonuses, rewarding players for particularly tricky runs that may be all it takes to keep us pursuing perfection into the wee hours of the morning.

Along with the official soundtrack comes more details on SSX's Badge system, a means for achievement points and a dream come true for you completionists. Working in conjunction with the game's online multiplayer network, RiderNet, player progress will be tracked by awarding specific badges spread across the three main game modes and challenges. Each challenge contains several stages, and completing them will earn you a unique badge wit which to taunt your fellow digital boarders.

Acquiring a badge on every level will earn you achievements or trophies, and provide even more motivation for showing your online friends just how tricky you can be. With more and more sports games creating well-rounded online experiences, we can only hope SSX will be the next to increase replay value through compelling challenges.

We've gone from cautiously optimistic to downright impatient for SSX to arrive, and with the release date fast approaching these bits of gameplay are all the more torturous. If the development team can bring next-gen technology into a game that still possesses the attitude that spawned this series, SSX will be worth the wait.

SSX will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 28, 2012.
