Split Second Game Rant

*Update* It appears the demo is already available on the Xbox Live Marketplace – go check it out!

Xbox 360 owners, it’s time to rev up your engines and put on your crash helmets! A demo for the upcoming racer Split/Second will be pulling into your marketplace this Wednesday.

Speaking on the latest Major Nelson podcast, Game Director Nick Baynes revealed that Xbox 360 players will be able to race through the airport level this week:

“There’s a demo exclusively out on Xbox, which is out this week I believe, so everyone will be able to play the airport track very, very soon on Xbox 360.”

That’s great news for Xbox 360 fans, but there’s no news yet as to whether the demo will be making its way on the Playstation Network, so keep checking back, PS3 fans!

Personally, this news has me incredibly psyched. As those of you who read our recent What’s Game Rant Playing? article will know, I’m a huge fan of arcade racers. Our recent hands-on impressions with Split/Second has me convinced that this is a title that will take over as my favourite racing game ever. At least, until the next Burnout comes out.

Are you looking forward to Split/Second? Will you be downloading the demo this week? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I just downloaded it and gave it a go. It’s pretty darn awesome if I do say so myself. Oh, and for racing purists out there, there is an inside the car view. Something that had me worried for a while. Can’t wait for the full game now! This or Blur…
