There's very little doubt that the impending release of Spider-Man: No Way Home has generated quite a bit of excitement. The most interesting aspect of the excitement surrounding the film might be the fact that some of what has people so excited about No Way Home are details that have never been confirmed, like the appearance of Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire.

In the leadup to more official reveals of Spider-Man: No Way Home there has been quite a bit of fan art created about the film. Some of that fan art has shown three different Spider-Men or villains that have yet to be confirmed, and a few of those fan-made images have been so convincing that it appears international theaters have either been fooled into using or willingly decided to use those posters to promote No Way Home in their regions.

The Direct found several different instances of international theaters using Spider-Man: No Way Home fan art as part of their official advertisements for the next installment in the MCU. The site pointed out that most of the official artwork for the upcoming movie wasn't released until November, and that meant that in order to get a jump on promoting the project, some theaters had to resort to an original approach. That meant using posters that were created by those anxiously awaiting Spidey's next arrival on the big screen.

While these fan posters and created art haven't been getting used in the theaters themselves, there have been multiple international theater sites that have been using these created images to sell tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home. One example is the CMX Cinemas chain of theaters, which has Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man in the center of the advertisement image with Garfield's Spidey on the left and Maguire's on the right. Because it still hasn't been confirmed that either Garfield or Maguire are in the film, this is obviously fan art rather than official promotional material.

Indian movie chain Inox Cinemas also updated the first official poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home by adding Maguire and Garfield's Spider-Men into the image alongside Holland in his Iron Spider suit. Perhaps the theater chain did this considering how much backlash the official posters had faced.

What is clear is that fans of No Way Home believe that Garfield and Maguire are going to appear alongside the classic Spider-Man villains who are set to reprise their roles from earlier films starring the hero. Whether or not they are actually in the movie will be divulged when it launches later this month.

Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres in theaters on December 17, 2021.
