Marvel's witty webslinger is coming back later this year, or going forward if you dig down into what the story of Spider-Man: Edge of Time is really about. Instead of dealing with multiple alternate realities, developer Beenox's next Spidey adventure pits players in two time periods: Present and the 2099 Marvel Universe.

This morning we posted the first Spider-Man: Edge of Time trailer which introduced us to the two protagonists, showing off lots of action and hinting at the story. We also have 8 brand new screens which give you a look into how the actions of Peter Parker (The Amazing Spider-Man) affect Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099).

The Edge of Time teaser didn't blow me away but I expect that with a second crack at the Spider-Man universe, Activision has Beenox working hard to tweak and improve on the mechanics and gameplay elements we didn't love from Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions last year (we did love the game though - read our review!).

The screenshots below actually impress me and get me more excited for the the game than the video as they give us a much better look at the graphics, costume designs and effects of the title, most notably how your actions playing as present Spidey, affect the 2099 webhead.

The close-ups of not only the Spider-Men, but of the non-robot bad guys look top notch. Note the two screenshots depicting present day Spider-Man battling a robot with the bottom right corner seemingly depicting the results of your actions in the 2099 universe.

Amazing Spider-Man or Spider-Man 2099 -  Which hero and/or costume do you dig more?

We expect Spider-Man: Edge of Time to hit all major platforms, including Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS and PC. It releases this fall, possibly in September as its predecessor did last year.
