Sony Interactive Entertainment presented the PlayStation Showcase 2021 today, on September 9. The livestreamed presentation ran for about 40 minutes and showed off some surprising reveals, announcements, and updates on titles PlayStation fans already know of.
For those who missed the live presentation and would like a rundown on what they missed, here are all of the games for the PS5 that were revealed during the PlayStation Showcase 2021.
Knights of the Old Republic Remake
The highly rumored remake of Knights of the Old Republic is indeed heading to the PS5 and will allow fans the chance to relive the Star Wars experience in modern graphics. There's no release window just yet, but Knights of the Old Republic will be a timed console exclusive for the PS5. There wasn't much to show off in the teaser, but it does give a glimpse of Revan lighting his lightsaber.
Project EVE
Taking place in a not too distant future, Project EVE is an ambitious action RPG that seems to look very similar to other character-action games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. The trailer shown during the presentation revealed that it's coming to the PS5, but it's not confirmed whether it'll be coming to other platforms. It's being developed by South Korean studio, ShiftUp.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Fans of Gearbox's Borderlands series will be happy to know that the next spin-off in the series is right around the corner.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 25, 2021. The trailer shown during the showcase gave viewers a taste of what to expect, offering lots of gun-filled mayhem to get into.
Forspoken
Square Enix showed off more of its upcoming fantasy action-adventure title, Forspoken. In the trailer, Square Enix goes more in-depth with Forspoken's protagonist, Frey Holland, as she is transported from New York City to a fantasy world called Athia. Forspoken will release in the spring of 2022 for PS5 and PC.
Rainbow Six Extraction
Ubisoft showed off a new trailer for Rainbow Six Extraction, which allows up to three players to fight against creepy monsters together. Rainbow Six Extraction is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia in January 2022.
Alan Wake Remastered
Remedy revealed Alan Wake Remastered earlier this week, but the official debut trailer was shown during the PlayStation Showcase. This Twin Peaks-inspired adventure game is a cult classic from the Xbox 360 days and remains one of the most thought-provoking and mysterious games to come from the developers of Control. Alan Wake Remastered launches on October 5, 2021.
GTA 5
Grand Theft Auto 5 being the second best-selling game of all time isn't going to stop Rockstar from bringing the title to as many platforms as possible. A lengthy gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 was presented during the showcase, confirming a PS5 release window of March 2022; it'll also come to Xbox Series X/S.
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Ghostwire: Tokyo is the next game from Tango Gameworks, the team founded by Shinji Mikami that also worked on the Evil Within horror series. A new gameplay trailer was shown, giving viewers more details on the first-person combat and the story. It seems that players will control a young man who has mysterious psychic powers and abilities and must fight demons attacking the city of Tokyo. The game will be released in 2022 for PC and as a timed console exclusive for PS5.
Guardians of the Galaxy
The next Marvel game from Square Enix is all about the Guardians of the Galaxy and is launching next month. The latest trailer dives deeper into the story of Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, and the rest of the gang as they face off against the galaxy's toughest opponents. Guardians of the Galaxy launches October 26 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt
Bloodhunt is a multiplayer battle royale title set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. It's out now as a free-to-play early access title on PC and will be coming to the PS5 later this year.
Deathloop
Even though Deathloop is launching next week for the PS5 and PC, Sony and Arkane still opted to show off even more of the frenetic first-person shooter combat. The video shows the main characters picking up enemies with telekineses like power, shooting said enemies in the air, and then throwing them around like rag dolls. Fans of Dishonored are sure to have a good time with this one.
Tchia
Tchia is an adorable tropical open-world adventure game starring a young girl with the power to take control of inanimate objects and various animals. Tchia is inspired by New Caledonia and seems to be a very wholesome game that allows players to explore a colorful world and see the sights.
Uncharted
Naughty Dog did not reveal a new Uncharted game at the PlayStation Showcase, but there was still some exciting Uncharted news for fans to latch onto. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be coming in early 2022 to both PS5 and PC, containing two PS4 Uncharted games: Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: Lost Legacy, both being remastered for the first time since their respective launches.
Gran Turismo 7
Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 7 got a new trailer during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, and it's launching for PS4 and PS5 on March 4, 2022. The gameplay shown in the trailer looks absolutely gorgeous, and the detailed photo mode looks like a car aficionados dream.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Insomniac Games finally revealed the first trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, showing off a CG Miles and Peter as they take down some enemies. The end of the trailer gave a small peek as to who will be the sequel's main villain, and it looks like it'll be Venom himself. Spider-Man 2 will only launch for the PS5 in 2023.
Wolverine
Probably one of the most surprising reveals from this evening was Insomniac Games announcing that the team is currently in the early development of a new Wolverine game. The new title starring the iconic X-Men hero has no official title and no release window. Still, the teaser trailer alone should have both PS5 owners and Marvel fans excited.
God of War: Ragnarok
And to cap off the big showcase, Sony Santa Monica unveiled the first gameplay trailer for the next God of War game. Many of the combat maneuvers look very similar to the first game. Still, there seem to be some new elements this time around, like a hookshot that allows Kratos the opportunity to pull himself forward in certain scenarios. Kratos' son, Atreus, looks a few years older, meaning there is a substantial time gap between both games. The game has not been given a release window just yet, so fans will just have to wait and see where it lands on the calendar.
