Starting with Sonic Adventure, the Sonic the Hedgehog series has featured voice acting. The Dreamcast era was not the first time fans of Sonic the Hedgehog would get to hear his voice, but it would serve as a starting point, shaping Sonic as he is known today. Throughout the years, the line-up of the voice cast for the various Sonic the Hedgehog games have changed drastically.

The most notable change was in 2010, when almost the entire cast was replaced with new ones. Ten years later, it seems that the Sonic the Hedgehog series appears to in a similar significant overhaul once again. Last week, it was announced that Roger Craig Smith, the longtime voice of the titular character, Sonic himself, would step down from the role after a decade. Earlier this week, another announcement involving the departure of the voice of another major Sonic character was posted on Twitter. This time, it's the voice of Amy Rose.

Cindy Robinson, the voice of Amy Rose, took to Twitter shortly after Roger Craig Smith's announcement to confirm that she would also make her departure from her veteran role. Her announcement was not as grandiose as her former vocal partner, as it was confirmed via a reply to a fan's inquiry involving her future with the series.

Amy Rose, depending on the game and the context, plays as Sonic's second-in-command, close confidant, and love interest in the various games she's featured in. Making her debut in Sonic CD as a damsel in distress that Sonic must save from the clutches of Metal Sonic, she fully evolves into heroine status in Sonic Adventure. Complete with her own story detailing the events of the main game, she remains one of the series major characters onwards. Following Lisa Ortiz's tenure, Cindy Robinson was the longest to voice Amy Rose, starting in 2010.

Judging from Robinson's reply, it appears that Sega is in the process of replacing the Sonic the Hedgehog cast entirely. Following the announcement of the animated Sonic the Hedgehog Netflix animated series, Sonic Prime, many wondered who would return for the series. Colleen O'Shaughnessey, the voice of Tails since Sonic Boom, confirmed that she would not reprise her role, echoing Roger Craig Smith and Cindy Robinson.

Sega has yet to make an official announcement at this time involving Cindy Robinson and Colleen O'Shaughnessey's departure, with many curious fans questioning if any other voice talents are being replaced. All eyes turned to voice actor Mike Pollock in recent days. Pollock, the voice of Eggman since 2003, has been one of the longest-running Sonic the Hedgehog voice talents and he has made clear his stance on not breaking non-disclosure agreements involving the future of Sonic.
