Players can sit back, relax, and explore within the vibrant indie game Slime Rancher 2. Much like the first game, there are slimes, resources, and areas to discover—each with secrets and surprises. To unlock these treasures, players will need to locate Gordo Slimes.

Beatrix LaBeau returns in the sequel to find herself in a new land called Rainbow Island. The island is divided into three main sections: Rainbow Fields, Starlight Strand, and Ember Valley. Each place has its natural minerals, materials, and slime species that have grown in their environments, including Gordo slimes. Gordo slimes are a group of slimes within the same species that have fused and can no longer move. Feeding them until they explode leads to new places and discoveries, but they are spread out and hidden on the large island. Here are all the Gordo slime locations in Slime Rancher 2.

Rainbow Fields

Slime Rancher 2 Rainbow Fields

Rainbow Fields is the first location slime ranchers get to explore when they get to Rainbow Island. It's a grassy plain area home to the Pink, Cotton, Phosphor, and Tabby slimes. It is also where the Conservatory is based, where ranchers sleep, keep slimes, sell plorts, and more. Three Gordo slimes can be found here:

  • Pink
  • Cotton
  • Phosphor

Pink Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Pink Gordo

The Pink Gordo is an essential slime as the key to getting to Ember Valley. Ranchers should head west after leaving the Conservatory. Make sure to pick up food along the way to feed it. Pink slimes will eat anything, so ranchers need not worry about their diet. It is found on the northwestern side of Rainbow Fields.

After ranchers feed it 30+ food items, it pops, and a geyser will appear that takes players up a cliff. Walk along the cliff path, and there will be a portal activation switch for Ember Valley.

Cotton Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Cotton Gordo

Another Gordo connected to a portal is the Cotton Gordo. Cotton slimes are one of the new slime species from Slime Rancher 2. They share distinct traits with rabbits, including their ears and love of vegetables. Carrots are easy to find, but there is also Water Lettuce in certain areas, though rarer.

After getting Veggies, ranchers can head west until they see a Refinery Link, a small gray object with a porthole. Continue south of the link, and the Cotton Gordo is located at the top of a hill. The entrance to a cave is revealed once it pops, which leads to another portal activation switch that transports players to Starlight Strand.

Phosphor Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Phosphor Gordo

The final Gordo to find in Rainbow Fields is the Phosphor Gordo. Phosphor slimes can only survive at night, so this nocturnal beast is hidden in a cave on the island. It only eats Fruits, so find some Pogofruits or Cuberries to feed it.

The Phosphor Gordo hangs out pretty close to the Conservatory. Exit from the southwest gate and head towards the beach. The Gordo sits inside a small opening nestled within the rocks. When it explodes, players will find a Treasure Chest.

Starlight Strand

Slime Rancher 2 Starlight Strand

Starlight Strand is a beautiful two-toned paradise. It is split in half by the sea, one side dosed in blues and the other in reds. The slimes native to the area are the Rock, Hunter, Honey, Angler, Flutter, and Ringtail slimes, but other species can also be found. It is a very coastal area, so there are some rare resources throughout the land. Here are the Gordo slimes in Starlight Strand:

  • Honey
  • Hunter
  • Ringtail
  • Angler
  • Flutter

Honey Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Honey Gordo

The Honey Gordo is the first one that players will most likely encounter. Honey slimes are sweet creatures whose plorts attract other slimes in masses. They are recognizable by the three-sided honeycomb on their forehead.

The Honey Gordo is directly south of the arrival portal, across from a waterfall. It only eats Fruits, so go prepared because hidden behind it are two Treasure Pods and shortcut Doorways that players can open with plorts.

Hunter Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Hunter Gordo

Hunter slimes are feisty kitten slimes with exceptional camouflage abilities. They are carnivorous, so players must get Meat to feed the Gordo. Then they can travel deeper into Starlight Strand once ready.

Move south until there is a large set of locked doors. Then, players will find an obvious pathway that takes them over the hill and toward the Hunter Gordo. This Gordo is sitting in front of a Treasure Chest and another Doorway.

Angler Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Angler Gordo

Another meat eater is the Angler slime. They are based on anglerfish and have a glowing light dangling from an antenna on their head. This light is used to hypnotize their prey but can also stun other slimes, including other Anglers.

The Angler Gordo is located on the southeast beach. Whenever ranchers get to the beach, they will find a cave with the Angler Gordo inside, sitting on a geyser that allows players to travel back up faster.

Ringtail Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Ringtail Gordo

The Ringtail slime is a unique breed. Much like Pink slimes, they will eat any food item. However, these slimes are only active at night as they turn to stone in the sunlight. The Ringtail Gordo is no different in this aspect, so players can only seek it out and feed it at night.

It is very close to the Angler Gordo on the island's south side. There is a waterway that, if followed, will lead to a stone bridge with the Ringtail Gordo on it. After feeding it enough Meat to make it explode, players unlock another portal to Rainbow Fields.

Flutter Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Flutter Gordo

Flutter slimes are adorable butterfly slimes. However, they have what is most likely the most challenging diet to fulfill as they only eat Moondew Nectar. Moondew Nectar is found blooming from flowers on top of trees nearby the Flutter Gordo. Unfortunately, it only blooms at night, and players must have the Resource Harvester upgrade on their Vacpack.

The Flutter Gordo is found in the southernmost area on the pink side in Starlight Strand, almost directly in the center where the two sides meet. Exploding this slime will reveal a Research Drone and a Teleporter that uses the warp network to send ranchers directly to Starlight Strand.

Ember Valley

Slime Rancher 2 Ember Valley

Ember Valley is a geyser-filled land with a volcano at its core. Players can find rare resources and slimes, but venturing into the lava-filled caves is a dangerous task. Nevertheless, if ranchers want to see rare Gordo slimes, they will have to take the plunge and go inside the volcano. These are the Gordo slimes found in Ember Valley:

  • Crystal
  • Boom
  • Batty
  • Tabby
  • Rock

Crystal Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Crystal Gordo

Crystal Gordos are shiny spiky slimes adorned with blue crystals. They leave harmful crystals along the ground as they roll around. This species is another vegetarian, so players should load up on any vegetables they can find.

The Crystal Gordo is on the island's northwest side near the lake. It is sitting on top of a shortcut that takes players back up to the path they came from.

Tabby Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Tabby Gordo

Tabby slimes are standard in every area of Rainbow Island, but the Gordo itself is almost separate from all the others. If players keep moving north, they will find a tall pillar off Ember Valley sticking out of the ocean. The Gordo is sitting right on top of the pillar. Players should get the Jetpack upgrade to make getting to it more accessible.

Tabby Gordos eat Meat, so Hen Hens and Roostros work perfectly to feed them. When it explodes, players unlock a portal to Rainbow Fields.

Boom Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Boom Gordo

Tread carefully when dealing with Boom slimes. They are made of lava and tend to explode and damage everything around them. In addition, these slimes, Gordo included, eat Meat.

This Gordo is located near the volcano's base at the island's west end. Ranchers must be wary as there are many Boom slimes close to it, and when it explodes, it breaks into more regular Boom slimes. It is sitting in front of a cave that contains a Research Drone and two Treasure Pods.

Batty Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Batty Gordo

The Batty Gordo is one of the hardest Gordos to get. Batty slimes are bat-like slimes that live in the caves around Ember Valley. They can live in sunlight but don't fare well in it and will become hungrier faster. Just like some bat species, they eat Fruits.

The Batty Gordo lurks deep within the caves on the island's southwest side. The caves are dangerous because they are filled with Boom slimes and lava pits that switch between stone and lava. However, making this Gordo explode unlocks a shortcut to the volcano.

Rock Gordo

Slime Rancher 2 Rock Gordo

Rock slimes are found in both Starlight Strand and Ember Valley. They are blue, covered in rock spikes, and feast on Veggies. They cause damage to players on contact, so getting near them can be a hassle. Finding the Rock Gordo also doesn't come easy.

It is found relatively close to the Ember Valley portal. Next, travel west towards the cave system near one of the dangerous areas. Inside is a Doorway that requires Boom plorts to open. Alternatively, players can come at it from above by scaling the rocks and dropping inside the cave, but that isn't an easy feat. Finally, the Rock Gordo is past those doors sitting on a geyser that takes players to a Treasure pod.

Slime Rancher 2 is available in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
