Pants shopping just got a little more dangerous with this latest trailer drop. Slaxx, a comedy-horror film headed to the Shudder streaming service, just showed off a brand new look at their original story about jeans that kill, and it's pretty much what you'd expect from a killer-pants story.

The premise of Slaxx, which was acquired by Shudder after premiering at Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival in August 2020, is pretty straightforward: a company has designed a special pair of pants that will automatically fit perfectly on whoever wears them. Of course, humans were never meant to have perfectly fitting pants, so something goes wrong and the pants come to life, resulting in a surprisingly effective murder-spree considering the limitations of being a pair of jeans.

It's about as goofy as one would expect, complete with cheesy practical effects and ridiculous horror movie stereotype characters. There's the vain teenage girl who uses the word "like" as a comma, the over-the-top tech-bro trying to show off his bizarre idea of innovation, and the normal protagonist girl who acts like a rational human being, all standard horror fare and a solid enough ground to build a decent comedy around.

For those wondering how a pair of pants can kill people, it would seem this particular pair has a variety of strategies ranging from choking to biting off hands. One scene even implies it can straight up rip people in half. Certainly an intimidating prospect!

Slaxx, which was helmed by Canadian filmmaker Elza Kephart from a script she co-wrote with Patricia Gomez, doesn't seem to be taking itself very seriously. Leaning pretty heavily into the schlocky nature of the concept, all the characters end up trapped in the store with no outside communication due to a lockdown. Yet, they all continue to crack jokes, make very ironic comments about how safe they are, and generally act oblivious to the obvious danger they're in, which is a good sign that the film is embracing the comedy aspect whole-heartedly.

Not only that, but Slaxx will only run for 77 minutes, making it a much more digestible size than your traditional big-budget theater extravaganza. Whether you're a horror-aficionado looking for something new to dig into or just a casual filmgoer looking for a lighthearted time-killer, it seems like Slaxx might be worth a try when it finally debuts on Shudder. The film will only be available to Shudder subscribers,

Slaxx hits streaming on March 18th only on Shudder.
