More ‘Skyrim’ Videos: Amazing Headshot and Carriage Glitch

Elder Scrolls Skyrim Arrow Headshot and Carriage Glitch
It’s been one week since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released, and people have been hard at work discovering all kinds of crazy things the game is capable of. Some of these things are found on purpose, and some are not. Today, we have an example of each. The first features an incredible shot with an arrow, while the second captures something rather unusual early in the game.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most expansive, overwhelming, and incredible game experiences you will have this year. While the game is still capable of being beaten rather quickly, Bethesda is keen on keeping people playing Skyrim for as long as possible. One way to guarantee this? Having infinite quests, of course.

While the game is incredible, there are still a few things that might bother players. Numerous bugs and glitches have been reported so far, one of the most damning having to do with PlayStation 3 save data, which renders the game nearly unplayable. Other glitches include graphical errors and gameplay exploits.

The following video falls into the former category. For most players, the introductory portion of Skyrim — where you are riding on a carriage to your execution — seems stable enough. Then this happened to TheSkyrimVenture, who was recording a “Let’s Play” series video.

Yes, the carriage flipped over the wall, with seemingly no trigger whatsoever. If anything, the introduction might have been the only hard scripted portion of the entire game, but it appears not. What could have caused it? Some randomly generated ramp? A rock? Another Dragonborn that wanted to make his presence known to the player? The world will never know. The player ended up having to restart the game, and it went without further incident.

Glitches and such aside, players in Skyrim are also capable of great skill. In this video, MrTeamVideo takes one hell of an arrow shot that ends up with a pretty good headshot on that preacher of Talos in the city of Whiterun. Archery is not a skill to be underrated in Skyrim, and is capable of dealing just as much damage as even the beefiest melee weapon fighters — if not more . Take a look below and (perhaps) rejoice at the silencing of a man of Talos.

All kinds of great and unusual things are possible in Skyrim. Have you done anything of note? If so, share with us.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available now for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

  1. Craziest thing I saw; An Orc bandit with one of the Kahti tails. That tail was on it’s friggin’ FACE though. I didn’t think to screenshot it, as I thought it would only be a day one bug.

  2. I killed a dragon once and it didnt dissolve to give me its soul. This has happened a couple times actually, but this one time I was able to keep casting destruction spells or shoot it or hit it with weapons (there was no health bar, just said Dragon where it lists the enemy name) and I was able to keep leveling up my skills, but i stopped shortly, since that takes away some of the fun. But if it happens in subsequent playthroughs once I have beaten the game, I just might take advantage of it :P

    • That happend to me as well, just once though

  3. first video: O_o

    second video: :]

  4. That last video was like one of the crazy throwing hatchet videos you see from black ops or MW3…

  5. Dunno, the Headless Horseman was pretty awesome.

  6. Wow, how much time do you have on your hands to figure out the perfect spot for that?

O well, he deserved to die…

    Funny vid though.

  7. I shot a Falmer in the Tower heading down to Black Reach on a set of stairs, and he stayed in the crouching position, almost shot him again before realizing he was dead already lol.

110 hours in and I have seen some pretty wild stuff already.

  8. I was in one of the villages and a dragon flew over it so I used Dragonrend to ground it, so it landed across the bridge. As soon as I started sprinting over I saw a chicken on the bridge running towards the dragon and attacking it. pretty wicked but it died haha

    • Maybe it was trying to prove it wasn’t chicken…. and now we know why the chicken crossed the bridge xD

  9. I’ll start by saying, I cant’ stop saying “let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll…” I’ve annoyed everyone I know…

I am 35 hours into the game, level 20; finally tried to fight a giant, don’t know how it happened but it was incredible. He took one swipe, killed me AND sent me straight up in the air above Skyrim about a mile. Literally, I watched the landscape shrink as I flopped around and then the game reloaded.

I’m trying to replicate it and get it on video, no luck.

Free House Info!!! A dragon attacked Shor’s Stone while I was there, the blacksmith there died in the attack. BOOM! I moved into his house. Have my stuff stored there for now, been testing to see if it disappears. Two days game play later it hasn’t. I was on good terms with him before his untimely death so I can also use the bed and it’s FULL of food. Not to mention. I have my own smithing shop on premises.

    More Later.

Nobody took my sweet roll, I ate it.

    • The Giant thing happens to everyone, I can kill them in 2 sneak attacks with my daedric bow and glass arrows.

But if I screw up, and one see’s me, well they slam me and I do a pop fly into the stratosphere.

  10. I’m pissed, I went to Markharth (city in the mountains), did a long quest, got a bounty on my head and can’t serve my time or pay it off. Stupid glitch/bug, now I have to kill every guard and its annoying I can’t go back to the town without being herassed. I select “I submit, take me to jail”, and it repeats dialogue. Any tips?

I’ve killed more than half the guards already.

    • Run out of town wait 3 days and pay it off

  12. I’m glad I haven’t had any game breaking glitches yet. Only minor things like an icicle sticking through me that using beast form fixed. I hope the giants man stick was intentional because that’s just the greatest thing to watch (if you have a recent save or auto save).

  13. ghostblade. that’s all I’m sayin.

  14. Giants are easy to kill, just stay away and use magic and fire breath and when they dragons die and dont give you their souls try hitting them ive done it about 3 times now it seems to work.

    • I killed 2 giants as a level 8 orc using an Ancient Nord Greatsword and the Berserker power lol. lowest level ive ever managed to kill a giant.
and yeah, hitting dragons that dont give their souls help sometimes. though sometimes i have to fast travel away, then fast travel back to get it, or else they have disappeared. The one im talking about though is on top of a tower in the southeast section of the map in the mountains on the bottom. if you fight it when it lands on the tower and have the stagger perk, it “staggers” and gets stuck and never actually dies. Health goes down, but still alive somehow. If i fast travel away no matter how far it says im still in combat with it, and when i look up, at the red dot, i see the dragon come flying in a straight line in the sky, and go over me and just keep on going till it disappears. fast travel back, no dragon remains or anything lol
