"Only a true a warrior, a Dragonborn, can survive in the land of Skyrim and save Tamriel from destruction."

This is not only the theme behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a game which in the tradition of The Elder Scrolls, allows players to enjoy a vast single-player experience where they customize their character's appearances, skills and most importantly, their journey, but it's the basic premise behind a new Skyrim fan film titled "Skyrim: Dragon Hunt."

The the Oblivion sequel, the player character’s birthright “Dovahkiin” is the only pre-determined character trait, the rest is up to the player to define as they progress through the game's main story, side quests, dungeons and more. The game allows players to pick any of the 10 playable races familiar to the series and for the first time in the series, the female and male animations are uniquely designed so each gender feels different, to go along with the different look of armor on each gender.

The very first Skyrim gameplay trailer debuted back in February, featuring the game's default protagonist taking down a dragon on the snowy mountainside of the province's sharp landscape, and absorbing its soul. The fan-film below is based on that very same moment and features the unknown character attempting to do the same.

Fans were just recently given a 20-minute Skyrim gameplay video so now it's time for some live-action combat in the northern-most province of Tamriel. Watch and enjoy:

Worst. Dragon. Ever.

Knocked down by the most non-intimidating axe?

In all seriousness, outside of the character pulling a crossbow bolt from his back that wasn't even in his quiver, this short is rather impressive from a visual standpoint for a fan-made production. The score is cool and the little dragon looks rather good and fans will take anything they can get when it relates to the next Elder Scrolls title. Bethesda wins on this one with some free marketing too.

Kill the dragons or save the dragons?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releases November 11, 2011 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
