Haven’t you heard? Next week is massive DLC Week! Two of the most high profile video releases of the last year are both getting very important new content on Tuesday, June 26th. We discussed the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut news extensively already, so now it’s time to return to Tamriel for more adventures with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Ever since the game released, Todd Howard, Pete Hines and the rest of the Bethesda team have emphasized that DLC for Skyrim won’t take the form of piecemeal components and instead will come out as “substantial” expansions, like we saw back in the day of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The first DLC, a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, is Dawnguard and it comes next week.
The Dawnguard release date was previously revealed but today Bethesda confirmed that the English versions (likely North America and the UK) will release on the 26th with other languages (French, Italian, Spanish & German) coming later in July.
PC gamers of Skyrim have already been subject to (limitless) additional content through the wondrous community mods generated with the Skyrim Creation Kit, but outside of the various updates and new features added to the game through official patches (horse combat, Kinect, etc.), console players haven’t had any additional new content.
With Dawnguard comes around 10-20 hours of new questing and areas to explore, the return of crossbow weapons, vampire and werewolf skill trees, gargolyes and various other new creatures. For a better look at the DLC content and its new features, here are a series of screenshots released previously that we’ve not yet shared.
If you’re a player of Mass Effect 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which DLC will you play first? And for the TES fans out there, with this DLC focused on vampires and werewolves, what would you like to see in the next Skyrim expansions?
Dawnguard will be available to download on Xbox 360 for 1600 MS Points beginning Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

I would like to see the next DLC allow fans to explore another daedric plane like the shivering isles.
Dude are you joking? why the hell would you go back to a place you already went?
I would personally want to go to Morrowind, or Hammerfell before I would want to go to a plane, new plane of obivion or not…
Pretty sure he was saying another plane, in the same way Shivering Isles was another plane, not the Isles themselves.
You are correct lol
Wanna know how to reach another plane of Oblivion?…Play Oblivion.
Holy crap people, they guy only mentioned what he’d like to see. If that’s not what you’re into, great. I don’t see why it’s necessary to berate the OP.
I want the story of the floating island that the Sleeping Tree may have come from to be true. Almost like a mythic Colombus from Bioshock. That or another province to wander through, I’m sure Morrowind has be in a pretty savage place right now.
It would be cool to go back to Atmora, or see High Rock or something. The White Gold Tower of Cyrodiil and the Skyrim border gates to Morrowind are both in game though so we may get to visit some old places and see how they’ve changed, that would be pretty cool too.
Why hello Marcus from underworld. How are you?
Can I ask a question? Sense the Dawnguard are against vampires…. Will they allows werewolves into their ranks? *snicker* Hehehehehe…
And when the heck are they going to add capes for the people who play third person? Capes are useless for FP people. But I play third person. and I’d like to have my character look like a true adventurer with a cloak of some sorts.
(360 player. Before all you PC people say MODS)
MODS *snicker*
F*** Bethesda and F*** Microsoft why the hell can’t pc get dawngaurd
Xbox gets it first. PC later. I feel your pain.
same with the ps3, we’re in the boat with pc.
Why the hell can’t console players run mods?
Im only 50hours into the game practically a noob still! Havnt got time for new content yet, theres hundreds of things still left to do!
Maybe access back to Tamriel/Cyrodil? Tbh the tundra terrain of Skyrim gets old after awhile, Oblivion had a better variety of landscape. Or add another expansive plane like the Shivering Isles, maybe one for Sanguine or Vaermina/Nocturnal.
Tamriel is the Continent, Skyrim is in it
i would wanna see another province like black marsh maybe or morrowind.
I’d like to see Cyrodil again, but because the white gold concordat has been abandoned, and the second great war has broken out. Both commanders hint at the peace not lasting in both the Stormcloak and Legion questlines
F*ck Microsoft and their 1-month exclusivity deal with Bethesda. This means PS3 and PC gamers won’t get Dawnguard until July 26th at the earliest.
I really am tired of this alienation of the PS3. The PC too. Why should a mediocre system get a one month head start? I mean ONE MONTH that is outrageous. Sure PS3 players get two week early access for BF3 but if you get premium for 360 you will get it at the sametime PS3 players will. And two weeks is a HUGE difference. Just because Microsoft aregreedy bastards shouldn’t mean anything. Just absolutely ridiculous.
Can I ask, will Dawnguard be like a separate campaign with a different character, or is it a new line of quests for your existing character?
Its a new questline for an existing char. You will be contacted in game with directions to both dawnguard fortress and castle volikhar and after you do a few quests then you get to decide which side you’ll join.
cool, cheers bro
got waaay too much still to explore to buy this yet, but I’ll probably buy it eventually
With having a PS3 I will be playing checking out Mass Effect 3 and hopefully playing the second episode of Walking Dead since its supposed to be released in June and we are coming up on the last Tuesday in June. Then I suppose I will try to finish Prototype 2 since I had to start over due to a glitch and then play more Skyrim.
I would like to see a magic expansion, also more of the Psijic order.
Maybe gauntlets that can switch between different spells
If anyone has amBX lights and can play using them with skyrim on steam, please let me know!
Throughout Skyrim there is constant mention of the Thallmar and how fragile the peace is between the two. My first encounter with them was running into a few templars who questioned me about my religion. I told them I worshipped how I pleased prompting them to attack me. Few minutes later I was looting their corpses.
I would’ve liked the DLC to involve the Thalmar and possible war and intrigue with them.
Its quite apparent the Thalmar were the puppetmasters behind the current king when you do certain parts of the main quest and find the notes from the thalmar leader. They could’ve did so much with a thalmar DLC.
It would involve eventually becoming king and marrying that lady in the city to the northwest whose husband was killed.
Thalmor, bro. And a new plane of Oblivion, like Azuras realm. Or Morrowind, but not the island part. Or Hammerfell.
I tought it would of been cheaper because all the DLC for Fallout: new vagas where only 800 microsoft points but i suppose The Elder Scrolls series is more popular id say
It’s way bigger, idiot.
I really think that they’ll release something about the Thalmor. They just have to!They play an important part in the game. I would also like to see something about the Dwemer. I think it’s time for the dwemer to return home.
I wish there was an expansion that was like this but with a bit more werewolves
Like a three way war between the monster hunters (They couldn’t be just vampire hunters now) on both of the other two during a fight between the werewolves and the vampires
I’d love for all the stuff I said plus a thing where you pick a side and you either get hunter weapons or the ability to become a werewolf at night or the vampire ability from this DLC
Also I’d love if they added three new cities (Which I know would never happen) and maybe in a whole new world setting if needed to make it work (Like a new plane of existence apart from the normal world) where in each city you had one of the three sides of the war and each city was unique from each other and the other wrld (The vampire city is always night but no moon so no werewolves in it and the werewolf city is lined with holy water for no vampires and in the hunter its always day so neither can exist in it)
I’ve always wanted to play a game with pretty much that whole thing I just said along with the combat of Skyrim and that would be the most amazing game ever
