Electronic Arts is giving gamers a new incentive for pre-ordering Shift 2 Unleashed. Late last year we told you EA will be offering a limited edition version of the title which included three exclusive cars. Today we have a new trailer show these cars in action and news of 40 career events that will also be included in the limited edition. Shift 2: Unleashed is gearing up to be the must have racing title for 2011.
Gamers who pre-order Shift 2 will be able to have access to the Nissan Silvia spec.R Aero (S15), the Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV, and the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. This is one car shy of the same promotion last year with Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. The limited edition of NFS:HP offered instant access to four cars which could also be unlocked in-game, however there’s no word of if these three vehicles will be unlockable during gameplay.
We don’t have the full details yet on all the events gamers will get with the limited edition however, we do have a trailer showing these exclusive cars in action and a glimpse at a couple of the events we’ll see when the game launches in March.
Unlike the last trailer for Shift 2, this new one shows us some daytime gameplay along with the strong statement at the end, “This is real racing.”
Need for Speed Shift basically rode the line between simulation and arcade style racing, rewarding the player regardless of which style they chose. This time EA and Slightly Mad Studios have made it clear that they have their sights set on stealing the pole position away from Grand Turismo and Forza. To do this they would have to steer away from the arcade style racing and go full simulation, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t include features to help ease new players into the game.
Shift 2 will also attempt to pull car enthusiasts away from GT5 by offering a higher quality experience with a lot fewer cars. The quality over quantity strategy that’s being presented with Shift 2 is one that this gamer welcomes with open arms. It’s great to say that your game has the most cars, though it seems like a waste if the majority of them aren’t being used.
Shift 2 Unleashed is launching on March 29, 2011 for PC, Xbox and PS3.
Will you be pre-ordering Shift 2? How do you feel about having less vehicles in your racing games? Let us know in the comments.
