Shift 2 Unleashed Launch Trailer

Shift 2: Unleashed will be hitting stores this Tuesday, and those who got a chance to check out our hands-on preview know that it’s a must-have for racing fans. We also got to try it out at PAX East and while using the term ‘visceral’ is clichéd, it’s the best way to describe the Shift 2 experience. Even if the game isn’t successful in dethroning Gran Turismo or Forza, it still will be a worthy contender in the racing genre.

As you will see in the Shift 2: Unleashed launch trailer below, the talented people over at Slightly Mad Studios went to great lengths to create a racing experience you won’t forget. The graphics of Shift 2: Unleashed are stunning both outside and inside the cars, where the attention to detail of the interiors are the best of any racing game.

During our hands-on with the game in Boston, we realized the sound is also an area where the developers put a lot of work into. Hitting a wall at high speeds not only looked spectacular but sounded just as good, or bad depending on how you look at it. Those who own a high-def surround sound system will be in for a treat.

A simulation racer will be nothing without deep customization options. In our preview, we talk about how gamers can even adjust the pressure of their tires in-game, and also how it breaks down in plain English why someone will want to do so. The Drift Trailer goes even further to display how far players can customize their rides. Speaking of trailers, check the the launch trailer below for Shift 2:

Does this combination of graphics, HD sound and Autolog 2.0 give you the Need for Speed?

Autolog, EA’s social networking system, is what sets their racing games apart from the competition. First introduced in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the new 2.0 version of Autolog will continue to give gamers the ability to rub their achievements in the the faces of their friends –  just by being awesome.

Shift 2 Unleashed launches Tuesday March 29th, and its not too late to get the Limited Edition with exclusive content.

Will you be buying this game when it comes out?

Certainly a better year to come out with this since there’s no competition coming from Blur, Split/Second or GT5.

After purchsing Hot Pursuit and realising I only got half a game (to get the rest I needed to shell out more dosh) I realised just how good GT really is.

    Typical EA money grabbing B*******

Looking forward to this, GT was so bland and dry, all the fun sucked out of it.Took it back after a month. This looks fresh and exciting my only fear is that they have the steering calibrated right as I use the Logitec G25 and on NFS HP it was just sloppy after GT. But as this is a sim/arcade I’m hoping it will be right.

cannot wait for this to hit tomorrow. It looks to fill the gap between arcade and full on sim perfectly.

i just hope i can tune my car to a reasonable degree, instead of just one of 3 or 4 different types/characteristics.
