As Spike TV has already announced, their 10th annual Video Game Awards will be something special. Part of bringing the festivities full circle involves recruiting Samuel L. Jackson to once again don his hosting hat and emcee the proceedings.

To celebrate Jackson's hosting gig, and to tease some of the many high profile reveals that will permeate the show, Spike TV have released a short TV spot for the VGAs. Unfortunately, the spot is more indicative of the Spike VGAs shortsightedness than it is anything else.

Samuel L. Jackson is a likeable guy, he is in fact responsible for some of the highest grossing films of all time, but putting his face on a baby doesn't do anyone any favors. More than that, though, Jackson touts the awards show as for the fans — fans that may or may not find a cursing baby funny.

Nevertheless, the trailer does provide a brief hint at what gamers can expect from the awards show, including closer looks at South Park: The Stick of Truth, The Last of Us, and Gears of War: Judgment. Two of those three games made their debut at the last Spike VGAs, and now they are presumably back to give closer looks at gameplay.

Spike TV's Geoff Keighley also hints that former Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski will be "doing something special." Speculation has been running rampant since his departure from Epic as to what his next project/adventure might be — perhaps we will find out at the show.

Keighley has also revealed that the first look at gameplay of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will take place during the VGAs. It was GameTrailers TV that officially debuted Konami's sequel, so it's only fitting that they get to show off gameplay.

There's still plenty more that has yet to be announced for the VGAs, which usually has one or two major surprises. Games like BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider seem like sure bets, as they are both nominated for Most Anticipated Game of 2013, but beyond that we'll just have to wait and see.

The awards show itself takes place on December 7th and will air live on Spike TV, MTV2, MTV Tr3s, on Spike.com, and GameTrailers.com at 6 PM PST.

How do you think Samuel L. Jackson will do as host of the Spike VGAs? What other games do you hope get the trailer treatment?
