Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion is gearing up to expand phase 4 in bold and exciting directions, as stars Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke of the upcoming Disney Plus series have been spotted on set in Leeds.

According to reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post, filming for the Marvel project is underway in Leeds, as the two stars were seen gearing up for a shoot. Jackson was seen rocking a more rugged look with his large beard while Clarke was spotted wearing a dark green jacket. Reports also indicate that multiple roads are closed in Leeds city center, as a set has been created at The Piece Hall in Halifax.

Like many of the new Disney Plus series, Secret Invasion will showcase many side characters that have appeared in previous MCU films, giving them plenty of time to shine and be explored in greater depth. In this case, it's Jackson's Nick Fury that gets his leading role, as he will reunite with the friendly intergalactic Skrull Talos to help take down other rogue Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth and have taken great positions of power.

Skrulls, who are known as shapeshifters, may have secretly replaced well-known MCU heroes as imposters in order to rule Earth for many years. Introduced as allies in Captain Marvel, the Skrulls' shapeshifting abilities were future hinted at in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where it was revealed that Talos replaced Fury on Earth while Fury was commanding a Skrull Spaceship. Even though many of them are good, there are plenty of Skrulls that are looking to cause harm, making them interesting and unpredictable characters to follow.

As for Clarke's character, not much is known other than she appears to be playing a prominent role in the series. What the Game of Thrones actress did share this past summer with The Hollywood Reporter is that she would love to continue working in the MCU, so fans can most likely expect to see her in many more Marvel projects in the future.

Mr. Robot's Kyle Bradstreet has hopped on board as Secret Invasion's creator and head writer, while Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim were hired to direct the series. The series also stars Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Kingsley Ben-Adir as the main villain, and Olivia Coleman, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald (as a newly created character not from the comics) all in undisclosed roles.

Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney Plus in late 2022.
