CEO Klemens Kundratitz of Dead Island, Saints Row, and Metro 2033 publisher Deep Silver teases a major announcement from the company for E3 2016 later this year.

Every year, gamers the world over look forward to E3. Usually full of surprise announcements and industry-shifting revelations, E3 is arguably the most important week for gaming. Even so, some companies have announced plans to skip this year's show. This isn't the case for Saints Row and Dead Island publisher Deep Silver, however, as the company is teasing a "major announcement" for this year's E3.

This is according to Deep Silver's CEO Klemens Kundratitz, who claims that Deep Silver currently has numerous games in development. What those would be outside of Homefront: The Revolution and the repeatedly delayed Dead Island 2 remains to be seen, but it seems as though fans will find out during E3 2016 this June.

Two franchises that Deep Silver has the rights to that spring to mind immediately as possible fuel for an E3 surprise are Metro 2033 and Saints Row. The Metro franchise has reached new heights thanks to the critical acclaim and sales success enjoyed by Metro: Last Light, whereas some feel as though Saints Row has gone a bit off the rails, with newer entries not having the same success with critics as the earlier games. Regardless, it seems like a safe bet to assume that Deep Silver's major announcement pertains to either Metro or Saints Row, unless the company has an even bigger surprise up its sleeve.

Another possibility is that Deep Silver is planning to reveal more about Dead Island 2. The last we heard about the game, LittleBigPlanet developer Sumo Digital was assigned to finish its development, but otherwise fans have been left in the dark for months. If Deep Silver isn't planning on unveiling a new game from its line of established franchises like Saints Row, perhaps a new trailer for Dead Island 2 is in store.

Whatever the case may be, those worried that E3 2016 may not meet expectations, thanks to Activision opting out and smaller developers skipping the show, can rest easy. Deep Silver's planned surprise announcement – whether it ends up being a new game in the Saints Row franchise or something else entirely – should help to make E3 2016 even more exciting. This combined with Bethesda's E3 2016 showcase, the participation of some of gaming's other biggest publishers, and more should go a long way in making E3 2016 a memorable event this summer.

What do you think Deep Silver is going to announce at E3 2016? Are you expecting an update on Dead Island 2? Do you think a new game in the Saints Row series will be revealed? Perhaps a new Metro game? Would you rather Deep Silver announce a brand new IP, or make a new game in one of the company's other franchises instead? Sound off in the comments below and give us your best guesses as to what Deep Silver has in store for this year's E3 event.
