Saints Row 4 Achievements

Although the game doesn’t hit store shelves until August, achievements for Saints Row 4 have already made their way online. Unsurprisingly, the achievement titles are filled with plenty of in-jokes, and a few clues as to where the story might go. Needless to say, those spoiler-phobes out there should turn back now.

Overall, the achievement selection is pretty standard, with some devoted to single player campaign progress and others focused on players performing a task a certain number of times. For example, there is an achievement for killing 100 aliens with your telekinesis superpower. Wait? Did we mention there are super powers in Saints Row 4?

For those that might not know, Saints Row 4 takes the player character – now the President – and puts him or her into a virtual version of Steelport where the laws of physics and nature do not apply. As a result, players will be able to run faster than cars, jump over entire buildings, and perform all sorts of crazy super powered moves, like the aforementioned telekinesis.

One of the most peculiar set of achievements hidden among the bunch are those geared towards specific 3rd Street Saints members (i.e. Shaundi, Kinzie, Pierce). We might be reading too much into things, but it seems like these achievements (and presumably the character-focused missions associated with them) are poking fun at Mass Effect 2‘s loyalty missions and romance options.

We do know that, outside of virtual Steelport, it will be up to the player character to save his crew – including Vice President Keith David – from the alien leader Zinyak. So it stands to reason that a large portion of the game’s progression will be structured around reassembling The Saints.

Our preview of the game at E3 2013 proved that Saints Row 4 is just as, if not more, ambitious than its predecessor. More importantly this sequel appears to carry on the series’ self-aware sense of humor, pushing it to even greater degrees of absurdity. Take one look at the dubstep gun and you’ll know what we’re talking about.

It’s going to be a two-month wait for Saints Row 4 fans, but this achievement list can help them plot out their quest for virtual domination and the inevitable 1,000 GS or Platinum Trophy.

Which Saints Row 4 achievement will you go after first? What element of Saints Row 4 are you most excited about?

Saints Row 4 releases August 20, 2013 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
