We previously discovered that Sackboy would have a grappling hook at his disposal in the upcoming Sony platformer LittleBigPlanet 2. In the newest trailer, Media Molecule shows our beloved Sackboy swinging to the rescue of a damsel in distress using his newest traveling accessory.

The trailer, set in the style of the old Tarzan TV series, shows the different ways you can utilize the grappling hook in LittleBigPlanet 2. You can, of course, swing through the air with the greatest of ease, but it also looks like you can use the hook for pulling objects or other players towards you. No doubt many creative minds of the LBP community will find ingenious ways to use this new feature, once the game launches in November. Check it out below:

One thing that stuck out to me was the futuristic look of the grappling hook and how it clashed with the primal nature of the environmental setting. It would be nice to have different models of grappling hook to fit different level styles, but my gripe is nothing compared to the amount of fun people are going to have when this is released. I sense some Bionic Commando themed DLC in this game's future.

The first LittleBigPlanet was a game I was very excited for before it launched. I got my copy on day one and had a ton of fun, but my attention wore off quickly since I lacked the creativity and the time to put into my own levels. The power the player will have to create their own levels seems almost limitless, and this new grappling hook is only a small tool that gamers will have at their disposal later this fall. Given the brief time I spent with the last game, I was hesitant to pick this one up at first. Then two words popped into my head: "Batman Levels." This game just jumped back on my radar.

Ranters, I know you're already dreaming up ways to use this new gadget when LittleBigPlanet 2 launches exclusively on November 16, 2010, for the PlayStation 3. If you plan on picking it up, don't forget about the special pre-order bonuses available to you. Be sure to let us know what you're planning to create in the comments below.
