This year at CES, Sony announced that it will be offering up some big-name titles in 3D. Yes, that’s right, 3D! Some of our favorite games of past will be brought back to life by the magical addition of a 3rd dimension.
Games like Super Stardust HD, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and, maybe most anticipated of all, LittleBigPlanet are all expected to receive updates that will allow them to take advantage of enhanced presentation technologies.
Maybe I am still warm from the glow of Pandora but Sackboy seems like the perfect fit for a 3D title. It may even make playing LittleBigPlanet a little easier – allowing for greater clarity when navigating the game’s multiple planes.
Sony has declined any comment on exactly which titles will be released with 3D enhancements; however, several upcoming PS3 firmware updates, scheduled for release this summer, include both 3D movie and gaming functionality.
Make sure to check back later today for a feature article discussing the reemerging 3D craze and what it could mean for gaming.
Are there any other games you would like to see in 3D? Is 3D gaming something that even interests you?

Still not sure how I feel about 3D gaming. Definitely more interested in it than the new motion control stuff, but that's really not saying much.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3(D)
I like the 'novelty' of 3D games.. but I couldnt play it for long.. well maybe the length of a movie. The COD franchise would be great to see but I may have to take a gravol before I unleash the fury. A side-scroller might be less jarring but as long as I can turn it off, bring on the 3D! Im also happy that it sounds like a simple update and not new PS3… or am I wrong?
you are correct in that it will be a simple firmware update to the PS3 and no new hardware will be required. I do believe that you will require a new 3D TV though in order to enjoy 3D gaming or 3D movies at home. (you didn't think that we were going to get off scot free did you!) I like the idea of a platformer and/or side scroller being made available as 3D. I do however worry that FPS type games like Call of Duty just won't work very well. I hope Infinity Ward can prove me wrong :p
I also heard they showed off wipeout HD in 3D (wipeout H3D?) and the results were impressive. Updating old games with 3D is cool but what really interests me would be games built from the ground up with 3D in mind (like JC did with Avatar). That may be a while away and until then it may just be a nice gimmick that only the lucky few who can afford it will get to see.
That's gonna be fun.
Wipeout H3D is definitely something that peaks my interest! You are right though aa163, I am also waiting with baited breath at some of the first titles to reveal themselves that were built, from the ground up, with 3D gaming in mind. Now all I have to do is get myself a 3D TV and I will be ready to go!
This is kinda neat but I wonder how long the 3D thing will last, or is it to stay for films AND games?
