While NBA 2K12, at least from our perspective, seemed like a pretty complete package, it appears that Visual Concepts is not done rolling out content for it. Some new trophies and leaked images have shown up online for the game and they point to some new modes being rolled out in what we assume will be DLC.

With 9 new NBA 2K12 trophies (and we assume 9 new achievements) being offered, these new modes are less focused on your traditional basketball experience, instead looking to deliver playground style games. Among those that are teased by the trophies are 3-on-3 games, H.O.R.S.E., and 21.

According to a leaked image for the DLC, this pack will be called the ‘Legends Showcase’ and will not only feature 21 and H.O.R.S.E., but 2v2 teammate challenges, and customizable match-ups. On top of that is the ability to take the teams from the NBA’s Greatest Mode onto the online courts. Unfortunately no new NBA’s Greatest teams are being added to the roster, but that doesn’t mean Charles Barkley still can’t have his shining moment.

Speaking of courts, all of these new game modes will be played out in Times Square — hence the “make a basket from the top of a building” trophy you see below.

It seems like NBA 2K12 is taking a complete 180 with this new DLC Showcase by delivering modes that are more NBA Jam than the realistic sports experience gamers have been enjoying thus far. These new modes do have us a very excited, and sound like a ton of fun.

We don’t have an official confirmation of the Legends Showcase’s existence nor a release date, so stick tuned to Game Rant for more info on this NBA 2K12 DLC. And to read our thoughts on the main game, a strong contender for sports game of the year, check out our review.

What do you think of the new modes and challenges that will be available for NBA 2K12 in the Legends Showcase? What other classic playground basketball games or alternate modes would you like to see added through DLC?
