Are you a fan of Prince of Persia or Mortal Kombat? If your answer was yes for at least one of those then you may be happy to learn that both of these will be getting their own HD collections, if box art images that have been posted by the French gaming site JeuxVideo are to be believed.

As we reported earlier, the Prince of Persia Trilogy, and even a Splinter Cell Trilogy, aren't groundbreaking news because they've been making sporadic retail listings since August. That being said it's still nice to see that these classics will be getting a high definition take in the coming months. It's not exactly a revolutionary concept considering we've seen HD collections before, but if done right it can provide a great trip down memory lane.

Both the Prince of Persia Trilogy and Mortal Kombat Kollection will not only appear in HD, but they will also feature stereoscopic 3D for the PS3 installments, according to Jeux Video's analysis of the box art. On top of that cool tidbit of info the Mortal Kombat Kollection will feature Mortal Kobat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and a super special demo of the upcoming Mortal Kombat game (that we have thoroughly enjoyed). Prince of Persia's trilogy will feature reiterations of The Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones. Not a terrible combo considering that they are widely viewed as the better games in the series, so with enhanced graphics and 3D this package seems like a no-brainer for fans.

These box art images come hot on the trail of the Team Ico Collection getting an official confirmation at this year's TGS. Trilogies and compilations of games past seem to be all the rage these days as is evident with the Sly Collection, the Super Mario Collection Pack, and (as JeuxVideo also claims) a Rayman trifecta on the way.

Warner Bros. and Ubisoft have yet to officially confirm that these bundles even exist, so nobody has any kind of clue as to when these packaged deals will be hitting stores in the coming months but rest assured that we should get word sooner rather than later. Revisiting old games that now have updated visuals and trophies/achievements can create some hardcore deja vu. I'm hoping that they add some secret levels or deleted cutscenes to help keep the experience fresh and give the fans a reason to play through these games again -- even though nostalgia is the reason I'll revisit PoP again.

What do you guys think of even more trilogies and collections on their way? What game series would you like to see get HD revisit on current gen consoles?
