Ahoy there me hearties! Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum! Walk the Plank! Walk the… Oh screw it.
According to Kotaku, sources are claiming that, due to the incredible success of The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge will also be seeing a ‘Special Edition’ re-release, complete with updated visuals and audio soundtracks. These sources also claim that an announcement will be happening very soon, even as early as GDC next week (March 9-13).
What’s that? You’ve noticed this article has a PS3 tag, but also know that the first title never came to PS3? Fear not, Game Rant PS3 fans, for it appears that, this time around, LucasArts has remembered you in its development process and will be releasing Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge: Special Edition (otherwise known as Monkey Island 2: Too Many Colons) on the Playstation Network, along with the Xbox 360, PC, and iPhone platforms, which received the release of the original. Sorry, Wii owners. No news yet on whether Guybrush Threepwood will be swashbuckling his way near you soon!
Having never played the series when it was first released back in 1990 (heck, I wasn’t even born yet!), these special editions are a godsend. Funny, clever and downright fun-to-play, The Secret of Monkey Island was one of my favorite games of last year; here’s hoping the sequel lives up to it!
