Fans of tablets and Apple products alike have plenty of reasons to be excited come spring. According to new reports from those close to the development of Apple’s upcoming iPad 3, the overseas manufacturers are already gearing up for a release in March 2012. Apparently, the device will also be an improvement from the previous incarnation.
Exactly when the iPad 3 would be released, and what technical specs it would be bringing when it does has been the source of speculation since the iPad 2 hit store shelves, so any rumors will be welcome for the more die-hard Apple fans out there. The word from last year that 2012 would see the release of both the iPad 3 and the iPhone 5 is seeming more and more likely, but until any official announcements are made, all reports should be taken with a grain of salt.
The latest whispers come thanks to Bloomberg, who claim that a few people close to the development of the iPad 3 have communicated to them that the Asian manufacturers have “started ramping up production of the iPad 3 this month and plan to reach full volumes by February.” Whether these are the same sources that earlier this month claimed that both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 would come in 2012 is impossible to know, but there is more than just a new tablet to be excited about.
While previous leaks claimed that the iPad 3 would feature little improvement over its predecessor besides an improved screen, these new reports assert technical improvements as well. Apparently the iPad 3 will be blessed with a quad-core processor, a significant upgrade from the iPad 2′s dual core A5 processor. According to those on the inside, the improved speed and display “lets users jump more quickly between applications,” and that “[v]ideos begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing.”
In addition to improved hardware Apple is also planning on bringing LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network support to the iPad 3 before the iPhone 5, with the greater battery like and horsepower cited as the reason. The technology behind wireless networks will only improve over time, so there’s no need to worry about reasons to be excited for the iPhone 5.
It’s times like these that the world wishes Apple would be a bit more open about their development progress, but it’s hard to think the company has any deadline that it must absolutely meet. According to the insiders, Chinese factories are already operating around the clock to provide the necessary product for a launch post-February, but the veracity of any and all claims is always in question.
What do you make of the rumors surrounding the apparent release date and improved hardware? Were you hoping for a more significant boost in performance, or will the spring be bringing you a price-dropped iPad 2 instead?
Whether these reports prove to be accurate or not, we’ll keep you up to speed on all the iPad 3 news

LTE is overrated. Yes, it’s very fast, but every device right now that supports LTE, their battery life SUCKS. Stick to regular 4G, being a little slower is better than not having a device to use because the battery is dead…
Not that it matters, they can release a new iPad with the same everything, just add a new number and idiots will still buy it… The new iPhone 4S is still a 3G device, so they don’t need to put LTE on the next iPad. Maybe add some stupid new useless feature and call it new… Lines around the buildings for it, lol.
Sound kind of bitter buddy lol. The 4S is as fast as “4G LTE” devices (if running on AT&T network). iPad in general is running the tablet market and iPad 3 will be no different. I’m interested to see what they offer.
Actually, I agree with Ken J.
People are such morons these days… in less than a minute they’re willing to buy into any “new” device (whether it really IS a new device or just a slightly different version of the same device with an increased price-tag and a new letter or number attached to the name)
They’ll hop on the bandwagon and get in line at the store just because of all the damn HYPE. (Most people don’t even wait for reviews, to actually see if it’s any good or not)
Noooo… they’re willing to buy anything the corporations tell them to (let’s say, a slightly-upgraded-version of the same device they already own), because it’s not like we’re living in a recession or anything… people can afford to charge the ol’ card just one more time…
until the next one comes out, that is
Rant over.
Wow! I just read the leaked iPad 3 feature list and release date, and I must say it’s pretty amazing. Can’t wait to pick mine up!

Lol, see what I mean? Apple has a bunch of people who would believe in any ridiculous crap myth they put out there and idiots will keep wasting money on their stuff. Like apparently there are idiots out there that think a 3G device can get anywhere close to a 4G LTE device even though that’s physically impossible given 4G LTE speeds are literally 10 times or more the speed 3G is capable of on its best day… So sad…
But for me personally, I’ll stick with my regular 4G device. Faster than 3G, slower than LTE but better battery life. Good compromise in my opinion.
For one thing, calling people “idiots” make you seem as one yourself. People can spend their money on whatever they want. Yes, as TheAvenger said some just run out blindly, well a lot lol but that’s how America is PERIOD. This isn’t just Apple, this is anything from video games to TVs to phones, etc. Heck do you know how much money we spend on fast food? I’m sure we all buy stuff that seems stupid to others. On top of that your arguing about a product that hasn’t come out yet and no one knows the features. My point is there is no better tablet out overall so what’s the big deal? Let the people buy a product they want if they have money to do it. And yes my iPhone 4S is as fast as “some” 4G devices (didnt mean to say LTE) not all but some. It’s what’s inside the iPhone 4S that lets it run at a speed on AT&T that it can’t do on Verizon & Sprint.
Also, you can like and believe what you want but what’s funny is how so many people click on these articles about Apple, Android, COD, BF, etc and don’t like the products. Ignore it and support what you do like. Gamerant and whatever site is going run the news regardless, just because “you” don’t care or like it doesn’t mean a thing. I’m sure not going to click on a Blackberry article if I’m not interested and talk about people who like the product, now to me that’s something an idiot would do.
FYI, I was mainly commenting about the LTE technology. And second, why do you care who I’m calling idiots if apparently you’re not one of them since you only accidentally typed LTE. But you know, there are people out there that would be dumb enough to just rationalize to themselves that their “new” device with old technology is better than the competition because it’s “just as fast” (in their minds because it really isn’t…) as something like LTE, which, like you know, isn’t true. But you know there are people who really think that.
And hey, I’m on your side actually on the iPhone 4S not having LTE, I don’t think LTE is worth it given its negative impact on battery life…
