Phase 1 Rogue Best in Slot Gear
The rogue class is a popular selection in Wrath of the Lich King Classic due to its insane DPS output. In order to prepare for the raiding scene, you will want to get as many pieces of Pre-BIS (Best in Slot) gear as you can before stepping into your first raid. This gear is collected in many ways including dungeons, reputation grinds, Darkmoon Faire cards, vendors, and more. In the Pre-BIS section we will cover your main target for each slot, as well as some alternatives for you that may be easier to obtain.
The Phase 1 list for Rogue best in slot will simply show the very best piece you can currently have for each the Assassination and the Combat specialization during this phase. If you are looking for Pre-Raid BIS, move along to the next section where many options will be laid out for you. This section is to show the very best option in each slot you should strive for.
An important note is that you should also follow your main Rogue Class Guides to know your status priorities, including the cap on each rating such as hit rating, armor penetration, and crit rating. Each rogue specialization has slightly different requirements, and thus you should balance your stats as to not go over the cap on any. Luckily for the rogue class, the gear considered Best in Slot is widely the same regardless of spec, and therefore you can follow the list below.

The Darkmoon Card: Greatness if far and above the best trinket for Rogues in WotLK Pre-BIS. This will single-handedly increase your DPS more than any other armor piece; it will also set you back a pretty penny... but it's worth it. The Mirror of Truth is an excellent secondary trinket, or look to get one of the heroic drops at a 25% chance.
