An official press release provides an update on the activities of developer Rockstar Games, revealing it is set to reveal a new game to the public "soon."

According to its financial report for the fiscal year of 2016, video game publisher Take-Two Interactive and parent company of Rockstar Games has made mention of the studio being "hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon." Although the press release failed to mention exactly what ventures Rockstar Games will be unveiling, with the developer being behind some of the most successful intellectual properties in video game history, anything that gets announced will certainly cause some excitement.

Thanks to many tip-offs that have recently cropped up online, a lot of fans are speculating that Rockstar Games' next title is going to be none other than Red Dead Redemption 2, with some details pointing to a 2017 release for the sequel in the western franchise. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by the developer as of yet, but with disclosures such as the game's potential map leaking, as well as fervent fans demanding another entry in the series, there's a high likelihood of RDR 2 coming to pass.

Furthermore, about a year ago, the studio's San Diego branch announced it was hiring for its next project that would feature an open world and "state-of-the-art visuals." Taking this into consideration, with the aforementioned Rockstar Games subdivision having worked on Red Dead Redemption, it's a possibility for the fruits of its labor to finally be revealed to fans in the form of a follow-up to the title.

Of course, the press release didn't state exactly when the next project would officially be broadcasted to the public. However, with Rockstar Games' holding firm's CEO Strauss Zelnick recently saying that Take-Two will be at E3 2016 in a "big way", the two companies could go on to use the major event as a platform for the game's exhibition to the world.

Whatever the case may be, Rockstar Games proclaimed a couple of months ago that Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development, and with the previous installment having released almost three years ago, there's a chance the studio could go on to show off some assets from the sixth title in the long-running series. Additionally, it was reported a few weeks ago that Rockstar filed for the trademark to "Judas," so the developer might end up revealing a new IP entirely. Nevertheless, since Take-Two's tease offers no concrete details in the way of Rockstar's plans, we will simply have to wait to find out what's in store for us.
