To those who feel like they have wasted time playing Rockband when they could have spent their time learning to play the actual instruments, you might just be able to look forward to Rockband 3.

If you thought that Beatles: Rockband was a great game then you will be happy to know that Dhani Harrison (the son of ex-Beatle George Harrison) will be returning to work on Rockband 3. Dhani Harrison recently told the Chicago Tribune that he would like to make Rockband 3's instruments "more real".

"I'm working on Rock Band 3' and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game."

Personally, I'm really hoping that the DLC from previous Rockbands can be ported over to Rockband 3, but if they change the instruments this drastically than it would make sense that they change the gameplay also. Given the current state of Rockband, a complete renovation in the controllers would take a fair bit of time (and money), and Dhani knows this as well.

"Give me a couple years, it's going to happen."

Rockband seems to be taking it a lot slower then Guitar Hero (considering that there is around 5 new Guitar Hero Games a year). It's going to take a couple of years to release a sequel to Rockband, but the real question is; Does anybody want to spend more money on extra plastic instruments?! We here at Game Rant sure don't, and we have a feeling they will be expensive... but it's probably more fun than guitar lessons.

What do you think of learning to play real instruments in a video game? Are you going to invest in more plastic instruments or are you going to go with the drum instructor? (keep in mind that the teacher will not improve your gamerscore)
